To entice the daughters of Kusanabha the Wind-god makes overtures of love. To the girls such a request is improper and immoral. ‘We can remove you from your godhood. We do not curse you because we want to preserve our power of penance.’ They threaten they plead, ‘Being under the control of our father we are not independent in the choice of our husband’. The king admires their tolerance and their self-restraint.
‘Brahmatapas’, means meditaation on Brahman with single-minded attention or a devoted study of the Vedas.
