[Jambavan says it is advisable to follow Rama's instruction.]

tasya tadvacanaṅ śrutvā vālisūnurabhāṣata.

ayuktaṅ tu vinā dēvīṅ dṛṣṭavadbhiśca vānarāḥ৷৷5.60.1৷৷

samīpaṅ gantumasmābhī rāghavasya mahātmanaḥ.

After hearing Hanuman, Vali's son said" O vanaras! (Hanuman) having seen Sita it is not proper on our part to go without Sita to the great soul Rama.

dṛṣṭā dēvī na cānītā iti tatra nivēdanam৷৷5.60.2৷৷

ayuktamiva paśyāmi bhavadbhiḥ khyātavikramaiḥ.

khyātavikramaiḥ known for valour, bhavadbhiḥ you too, dēvī god-like lady, dṛṣṭā seeing, na ānītā ca not brought her, iti this, tatra there, nivēdanam tell, ayuktamiva not proper, paśyāmi I think.

"O vanaras, you are known for your valour. I think, to tell Rama that we have seen Sita but not brought her is not proper".

na hi naḥ plavanē kaścinnāpi kaścitparākramē৷৷5.60.3৷৷

tulya ssāmaradaityēṣu lōkēṣu harisattamāḥ.

harisattamāḥ noble vanaras, sāmaradaityēṣu gods or demons, lōkēṣu in the world, plavanē in leaping, naḥ none, tulyaḥ match, kaścit even few, na hi not indeed, parākramē.pi even in valour, kaścit are there, na no one.

"O noble vanaras! Indeed either among gods or among demons there is none who can match the vanaras in leaping and exhibiting valour.

tēṣvēvaṅ hatavīrēṣu rākṣasēṣu hanūmatā৷৷5.60.4৷৷

kimanyadatra kartavyaṅ gṛhītvā yāma jānakīm.

tēṣu hence, rākṣasēṣu among demons, hanūmatā Hanuman, ēvam in that way, hatavīrēṣu dead heroes, atra there, kim what, anyat other, kartavyam action, jānakīm Janaki, gṛhītvā get, yāma here.

"Hence, having killed the heroes among ogres what other task has Hanuman to do? Let us get Sita.

tamēvaṅ kṛtasaṅkalpaṅ jāmbavān harisattamaḥ৷৷5.60.5৷৷

uvāca paramaprītō vākyamarthavadarthavit.

arthavit knower of ways of execution of tasks, harisattamaḥ noble vanara, jāmbavān Jambavan, paramaprītaḥ very pleased, ēvam in that way, kṛtasaṅkalpam determined, tam him, arthavat commnading way, vākyam these words, uvāca spoke.

"Jambavan, the noble vanara, skilled in the execution of tasks thus commanded in a determined manner:

na tāvadēṣā matirakṣamā nō yathā bhavān paśyati rājaputra.

yathā tu rāmasya matirniviṣṭā tathā bhavān paśyatu kāryasiddhim৷৷5.60.6৷৷

rājaputra O prince, bhavān you, yathā this way, paśyati thought of, ēṣā also, matiḥ to my mind, naḥ none, akṣamā acceptable, na tāvat we are capable, tu you, rāmasya Rama's, matiḥ mind, yathā this way, niviṣṭā should act, tathā that way, bhavān you, kāryasiddhim to accomplish the work, paśyatu do it.

"O prince! what you think is acceptable to us also. Even though we are capable of achieving, knowing what is in Rama's mind, we should act only according to his command to accomplish the task.
ityārṣē śrīmadrāmāyaṇē vālmīkīya ādikāvyē sundarakāṇḍē ṣaṣṭitamassargaḥ৷৷
Thus ends the sixtieth sarga of Sundarakanda of the holy Ramyana, the first epic composed by sage Valmiki.
