[ Descending from the sky Vibheeshana seeks refuge with Sri Rama. On enquiry Vibheeshana tells everything about Ravana to Sri Rama. ]

राघवेणाभयेदत्तेसन्नतोरावणानुजः ।

विभीषणोमहाप्राज्ञोभूमिंसमवलोकयन् ।।6.19.1।।


राघवेण: by Raghava, अभये: promised security, दत्ते: given, रावाणानुजः to Ravana's brother, महाप्राज्ञः wise, विभीषणः Vibheeshana, सन्नतः prepared to, भूमिम् ground, समवलोकयन् looked around.

When wise Vibheeshana, the brother of Ravana was assured of security by Raghava, he looked around the ground and prepared (to descend).
खात्पपातावनींहृष्टोभक्तेरनुचरैस्सह ।

सतरामस्यपरमात्मानिपपातविभीषणः ।।6.19.2।।


धर्मात्मा: righteous self, सः that, विभीषणः Vibheeshana, हृष्टः happily, खात् from the sky, भक्तेः devotees, सहा: accompanied by, अवनिम् on to the land, पपातात: descended, रामस्य: towards Rama, निपपात: fell on the feet.

Righteous Vibheeshana descended from the sky and fell at the feet of Rama accompanied by his devotees happily (considering it to be inappropriate to come with foot down he came straight down with his body).
पादयोश्शरणान्वेषीचतुर्भिस्सहराक्षसैः ।

अब्रवीच्चतदावाक्यंरामंप्रतिविभीषणः ।।6.19.3।।

धर्मयुक्तंचयुक्तंचसाम्प्रतंसम्प्रहर्षणम् ।


अथ: thereafter, विभीषणः Vibheeshana, चतुर्भिः and the four, राक्षसैःसह: along with Rakshasas, पादयोः by foot, शरणान्वेषी: who seeks shelter, निपपात: prostrated falling down, रामंप्रति: in front of Rama, धर्मयुक्तम् duly expressing his duty, युक्तंच: and appropriate, साम्प्रतम् placing confidence in, सम्प्रहर्षणम् showing extreme joy, वाक्यम् these words, अब्रवीच्च: spoken.

Thereafter Vibheeshana and the four Rakshasas who sought shelter prostrated lying at the feet of Rama expressing their duty, duly and placing confidence in Rama who spoke these words showing extreme joy.
अनुजोरावणस्याहंतेनचाप्यवमानितः ।

भवन्तंसर्वभूतानांशरण्यंशरणागतः ।।6.19.4।।


अहम् I am, रावणस्य: Ravana's, अनुजः younger brother, तेन: having been, अवमानितश्च: put to shame, सर्वभूतानाम् all beings, शरण्यम् protector, भवन्तम् you are, शरणागतः came to seek protection.

"I am Ravana's younger brother. Having been put to shame I came to seek protection from you who are the protector of all beings " (Vibheeshana said to Rama)."
परित्यक्तामयालङ्कमित्राणिचधनानिच ।

भवद्गतंहिमेराज्यंजीवितंचसुखानिच ।।6.19.5।।


मया: my, लङ्का: Lanka, परित्यक्ता: leaving, मित्राणिच: and friends, धनानिच: even wealth, मे: my, राज्यम् kingdom, भवद्गतंहि: at your disposal, जीवितम् life, सुखानिच: for happiness.

"Leaving Lanka, my friends and my wealth I came to you. Now my life, kingdom and welfare are at your disposal."
तथ्यतद्वचनंश्रुत्वारामोवचनमब्रवीत् ।।6.19.6।।

वचसासान्त्वयित्वैनंलोचनाभ्यांपिबन्निव ।

आख्याहिममतत्त्वेनराक्षसानांबलाबलम् ।।6.19.7।।


रामः Rama, तस्य: that, तत् वचनम् those words, श्रुत्वा: on hearing, वचसा: word, एनम् that way, सान्त्वयित्वा: soothing him, लोचनाभ्याम् with both eyes, पिबन्निव: as if drinking, वचनम् words, अब्रवीत् spoken, राक्षसानाम् Rakshasas, बलाबलम् strength as well as weakness, मम: to me, तत्त्वेन: truly, आख्याहि: related.

"On hearing those words (of Vibheeshana) that were soothing to him as if he drank (Vibheeshana's love) with his both eyes, Rama asked Vibheeshana to truly relate the strength as well as weakness of the Rakshasas."
एवमुक्तंतदारक्षोरामेणाक्लिष्टकर्मणा ।

रावणस्यबलंसर्वमाख्यातुमुपचक्रमे ।।6.19.8।।


तदा: then, अक्लिष्टकिर्मणा: of unwearied action, रामेण: by Rama, एवम् in that way, उक्तम् having said, रक्षः Rakshasa (Vibheeshana), रावणस्य: Ravana's, सर्वम् all, बलम् strength, आख्यातुम् to speak out, उपचक्रमे: proceeded.

Then the Rakshasa (Vibheeshana) having heard that Rama of unwearied action would save him proceeded to speak out about the strength of Ravana.
अवध्यस्सर्वभूतानांगन्धर्वोरगरक्षसाम् ।

राजपुत्रदशग्रीवोवरदानात्स्वयंभुवः ।।6.19.9।।


राजपुत्र: prince, स्वयंभुवः selfborn Brahma, वरदानात्: by virtue of a boon, दशग्रीवः tenheaded Ravana, गन्धर्वोररक्षसाम् by Gandharvas, serpents or Rakshasas, सर्वभूतानाम् by all beings, अवध्यः not possible to kill.

"Oh Prince, by virtue of a boon granted by Brahma, the selfborn to the tenheaded Ravana, he cannot be killed by Gandharvas, Rakshasas and by all beings."
रावणानन्तरोभ्राताममज्येष्ठश्चवीर्यवान् ।

कुम्भकर्णोमहातेजाश्शक्रप्रतिबलोयुधि ।।6.19.10।।


रावणानन्तरः younger to Ravana, भ्राता: brother, मम: my, ज्येष्ठश्च: elder's, वीर्यवान् highly valiant, महातेजा: of great prowess, कुम्बकर्णः Kumbhakarna, युधि: in war, शक्रप्रतिबलः equal to Indra in strength.

"My elder brother, the one who is younger to Ravana is a highly valiant one endowed with great prowess. He is Kumbhakarna and equal to Indra in war."
रामसेनापतिस्तस्यप्रहास्तोयदिवाश्रुतः ।

कैलासेयेनसङ्ग्रामेमणिभद्रःपराजितः ।।6.19.11।।


राम: Rama, येन: on which account, कैलासे: in Kailasa, सङ्ग्रामे: in combat, मणिभद्रः Manibhadra, पराजितः defeated, तस्यसेनापतिः his army chief, प्रहस्तः Prahastha, ते: you, श्रुतःयदि: might have heard.

"Rama You might have heard of Prahastha who the commander in chief of his (Ravana's) army is by whom Manibhadra (Kubera's Commander of Army) was defeated in a comb at in Kailas (the abode of Siva)."
बद्धगोधाङ्गुळित्रश्चअवध्यकवचोयुधि ।

धनुरादाययस्तिष्टन्नदृश्योभवतीन्द्रजित् ।।6.19.12।।


यः he who, इन्द्रजित् Indrajith, बुद्धगोधाङ्गुळित्रश्च: possessed with skin of Iguana on his hands, अवध्यकवचः shield which cannot be pierced, धनुः bow, आदाय: wielding, युधि: in combat, तिष्ठन् remains, अदृश्यः unseen, भवति: will be.

"He (Ravana's eldest son) who is possessed of Iguana skin on his hands (to protect), and with a shield that cannot be pierced and who remains unseen in comb at wielding a bow is Indrajith."
सङ्ग्रामसमयव्यूहेतर्पयित्वाहुताशनम् ।

अन्तर्धानगतश्शत्रूनिन्द्रजिद् हन्तिराघव:।। 6.19.13।।


राघव: Raghava, शत्रून् at enemies, इन्द्रजित् Indrajith, हुताशनम् god of fire, तर्पयित्वा: by satisfying, अन्तर्धानगतः goes unseen, सुमयव्यूहे: when caught by network of foes, सङ्ग्रामसमये: at the time of war, हन्ति: strikes.

"Raghava Indrajith strikes when caught by a network of foes in war by becoming invisible because of satisfying fire god."
महोदरमहापार्श्वौराक्षसश्चाप्यकम्पनः ।

अनीकस्थास्तुतस्यैतेलोकपालसमायुधि ।।6.19.14।।


महोदरमहापार्श्वौ: Mahodara and Mahaparsva, अकम्पनः Akampana, राक्षसश्च: at Rakshasas, युधि: in war, लोकपालसमाः like the guardians of the world, एते: all these are, तस्य: their, अनीकस्ध: commanders in the army.

"Mahodara, Mahaparsva, Akampana are Rakshasas who are like the guards of the world. They are the commanders of his (Ravana's) army."
दशकोटिसहस्राणिरक्षसांकामरूपिणाम् ।

मांसशोणितभक्ष्याणांलङ्कापुरनिवासिनाम् ।।6.19.15।।


कामरूपिणाम् who change form at their will, मांसशोणितभक्ष्याणाम् who eat flesh and blood, लङ्कापुरनिवासिनाम् those residing in the city of Lanka, रक्षसाम् Rakshasas, सहस्राणि: thousands.

"Thousands of Rakshasas inhabit the city of Lanka living on flesh and blood and changing their form at will."
सतैस्तुसहितोराजालोकपालानयोधयत् ।

सहदेवैस्तुतेभग्नारावणेनमहात्मना ।।6.19.16।।


सः that, राजा king, तैः them (Rakshasas), सहितः accompanied by, लोकपालन् rulers of the world, अयोधय् unassailable, देवैःसहा: along with celestial beings, महात्मना: great soul, रावणे: by Ravana, भग्नाः shattered.

"The unassailable rulers of the world and even celestial beings have been shattered by Ravana accompanied by the Rakshasas."
विभीषणवच: श्रुत्वारामोदृढपराक्रमः ।

अन्वीक्ष्यमनसासर्वमिदंवचनमब्रवीत् ।।6.19.17।।


रामः Rama, दृढपराक्रमः one of mighty prowess, विभीषणवचः Vibheeshana's words, श्रुत्वा: hearing, सर्वम् everything, मनसा: in mind, अन्वीक्ष्य: examining, इदम् these, वचनम् words, अब्रवीत् spoke.

Rama of mighty prowess having heard everything from Vibheeshana, examining in his mind, spoke.
यानिकर्मापदानानिरावणस्यविभीषण: ।

अख्यातानिचतत्त्वेनह्यवगच्छामितान्यहम् ।।6.19.18।।


विभीषण: Vibheeshana, रावणस्य: Ravana's, यानि: those, कर्मापदानानि: actions followed, अख्यातानि: that which has been spoken, तानि: those, तत्त्वेन: in essence, अहम् अवगच्छामि: is known to me, हि: also.

"Vibheeshana Those actions resorted to by Ravana which have been spoken by you in essence are known to me."
अहंहत्वादशग्रीवंसप्रहस्तंसबान्धवम् ।

राजानंत्वांकरिष्यामिसत्यमेतद्ब्रवीमिते ।।6.19.19।।


अहम् I, सप्रहस्तम् with Prahastha, सबान्धवः with relatives, दशग्रीवम् tenheaded Ravana, हत्वा: killing, त्वाम् you, राजानम् crown as the king, करिष्यामि: will make you, मे: my, एतत् this, सत्यम् true, ब्रवीमि: telling.

"By Killing the tenheaded Ravana along with Prahastha and relatives I will make you the king. I am telling you, this is true."
रसातलंवाप्रविशेत्पाताळंवापिरावणः ।

पितामहासकाशंवानमेजीवन्विमोक्ष्यते ।।6.19.20।।


रावणः Ravana, रसातलम् hell, पातालंवापि: even under the ground, प्रविशेत् if enters, पितामहासकाशंवा: or the abode of Brahma, जीवन् with life, मे: I, नविमोक्ष्यते: will not let.

"Even if Ravana enters the hell or underground or the abode of Brahma the creator, I will not let him be alive."
अहत्वारावणंसङ् ख्येसपुत्रजनबान्धवम् ।

अयोध्यांनप्रवेक्ष्यामित्रिभिस्तैर्भ्रातृभिश्शपे ।।6.19.21।।


सपुत्रजनबान्दवम् accompanied with sons and relatives and people, रावणम् Ravana, सङ् ख्ये: in war, अहत्वा: without putting an end to, अयोध्याम् into Ayodhya, नप्रवेक्ष्यामि: will not enter, तै: those, त्रिभिः three, भ्रातृभिः brothers, शपे vow.

"I vow upon my three brothers that I will not enter Ayodhya without putting an end to Ravana along with his people, sons and relatives."
श्रुत्वातुवचनंतस्यरामस्याक्लिष्टकर्मणः ।

शिरसावन्द्यधर्मात्मावक्तुमेवोपचक्रमे ।।6.19.22।।


धर्मात्मा: righteous man, अक्लिष्टकर्मणः untiring in action, तस्यरामस्य: at Rama's, वचनम् words, श्रुत्वा: after having heard, शिरसा: with head, अवन्द्य: bent down, वक्तुमेव: to speak, उपचक्रमे: started.

After having heard the words of Rama of untiring in action, Vibheeshana of righteous nature, started to speak with his head bent down (in reverence).
राक्षसानांवधेसाह्यंलङ्कायाश्चप्रधर्षणे ।

करिष्यामियथाप्राणंप्रवेक्ष्यामिचवाहिनीम् ।।6.19.23।।


लङ्कायाः Lanka's, प्रधर्षणे: for storming, राक्षसानाम् for Rakshasas, वथे: for killing, साह्यम् help, करिष्यामि: will render, यथाप्राणम् with all my strength, वाहिनीम् army, प्रवेक्ष्यामिच: to enter.

"I will render assistance with all my strength for storming Lanka, for killing the Rakshasas and for the army to enter."
इतिब्रुवाणांरामस्तुपरिष्वज्यविभीषणम् ।

अब्रवील्लक्ष्मणंप्रीतस्समुद्राज्जलमानय ।।6.19.24।।


रामस्तु: even Rama also, प्रीत: pleased, इति: thus, ब्रुवाणम् spoken, विभीषणम् by Vibheeshana, परिष्वज्य: embracing, लक्ष्मणम् to Lakshmana, अब्रवीत् said, समुद्रात् from the ocean, जलम् water, आनय: get water.

When Vibheeshana had spoken in that manner, Rama was pleased and embraced him. He called for Lakshmana to get water from the ocean (for consecration).
तेनचेमंमहाप्राज्ञमभिषिञ्चविभीषणम् ।

राजानंरक्षसांक्षिप्रंप्रसन्नेमयिमानद ।।6.19.25।।


मानद: respectable one, मयि: I am, प्रसन्ने: pleased with, महाप्राज्ञम् highly intelligent, इमम् this, विभीषणम् Vibheeshana, रक्षसाम् Rakshasa, राजानम् crowned king, क्षीप्रम् at once, तेन: so, अभिषिञ्च: will coronate.

"I am pleased with this highly intelligent Vibheeshana, a respectable one. I will coronate him at once as king of Rakshasas."
एवमुक्तस्तुसौमित्रिरभ्यषिञ्चद्विभीषणम् ।

मध्येवानरमुख्यानांराजानंरामशासनात् ।।6.19.26।।


एवम् in that way, उक्ताः having spoken, सौमित्रि: Saumithri, वानमुख्यानाम् chiefs of army of Vanaras, मध्ये: midst, रामशासनात् by the command of Rama, विभीषणम् Vibheeshana, राजानम् as king, अभ्यषिञ्चत् coronated.

(Rama) having spoken that way, Saumithri crowned Vibheeshana as crowned king on the command of Rama amid Vanara army chiefs.
तंप्रसादंतुरामस्यदृष्टवासद्यःप्लवङ्गमाः ।

प्रचुक्रुशुर्महात्मानंसाधुसाध्वितिचाब्रुवन् ।।6.19.27।।


प्लवङ्गमाः the leaping animals (Vanaras), रामस्य: Rama's, तम्: that, सद्यः that, प्रसादम् grace, दृष्टवा: seeing, प्रचुक्रुशुः moving about in joy, महात्मानम् great self, साधुसाधुइति: good, अब्रुवन् च: hailed saying.

At that instant the Vanaras jumped, moving about exhibiting their joy on witnessing great Rama's grace saying "Good, good."
अथाब्रवीद् हनूमांश्चसुग्रीवश्चविभीषणम् ।

कथंसागरमक्षोभ्यंतरामवरुणालयम् ।।6.19.28।।

सैन्यैःपरिवृतास्सर्वेवानराणांमहौजसाम् ।


हनूमांश्च: Hanuman also, विभीषणम् to Vibheeshana, अब्रवीत् said, सुग्रीवश्च: to Sugriva, सर्वे: entire lot of, महौजसाम् highly energetic, वानराणाम् with Vanaras, सैन्यैः army, परिवृताः surrounded, अक्षोभ्यम् imperturbable, वरुणालयम् abode of Varuna (ocean), सागरम् ocean, कथम् how, तराम: to cross.

Hanuman and Sugriva enquired of Vibheeshana as to how to cross this ocean that is imperturbable along with the entire lot of energetic Vanara army.
उपायंनाधिगच्छामोयथानदनदीपतिम् ।

तरामतरसासर्वेससैन्यावरुणालयम् ।।6.19.29।।


नदनदीपतिम् Lord of rivers and streams, god of water, वरुणालयम् abode of Varuna, ससैन्याः with the army, सर्वे: entire, तरसा: to cross, यथा: this way, तराम: to cross, उपायैः strategy, अभिगच्चाम: shall we approach.

"What strategy should we adopt to cross this abode of Varuna, the Lord of rivers and streams with the entire army of Vanaras?" (Hanuman and Sugriva asked Vibheeshana).
एवमुक्तस्तुधर्मज्ञःप्रत्युवाचविभीषणः ।

समुद्रंराघवोराजाशरणंगन्तुमर्हति ।।6.19.30।।


एवम् in that way, उक्तः having said, धर्मात्मा: righteous self, विभीषणः Vibheeshana, प्रत्युवाच: replied, राजा: O King, राघवः Raghava, समुद्रम् ocean, शरणम् refuge, गन्तुम् will go, अर्हति: we ought to.

(Hanuman) having asked so, righteous Vibheeshana said, "O king Raghava We ought to go and seek refuge from the god of the ocean."
खानितस्सगरेणायमप्रमेयोमहोदधिः ।

कर्तुमर्हतिरामस्यज्ञाते: कार्यंमहामतिः ।।6.19.31।।


आप्रमेयः unbounded, अयम: this, महोदधिः great ocean, सगरेण: by Sagara, खनितः excavated, महामतिः king of the great ocean, ज्ञात: race, रामस्य: Rama's, कार्यम् task, कर्तुम् to do, अर्हति: ought to.

"This immeasurable great ocean was excavated by Sagara (A King of the Ikshvaku dynasty). The great ocean needs to do the task of Rama who is of the same race."
एवंविभीषणेनोक्तोराक्षसेनविपश्चिता ।

अजगामाथसुग्रीवोयत्ररामस्सलक्ष्मणः ।।6.19.32।।


अथ: and then, विपश्चिता: learned, राक्षसेना: by rakshasa, विभीषणेन: by Vibheeshana, एवम् in that manner, उक्तः having spoken, सुग्रीवः Sugriva, सलक्ष्मणेन: accompanied by Lakshmana, रामः Rama, यत्र: where, आजगाम: reached.

Vibheeshana having spoken in that manner, Sugriva accompanied by Lakshmana reached near Rama.
ततश्चाख्यातुमारेभेविभीषणवचश्शुभम् ।

सुग्रीवोविपुलग्रीवोस्सागरस्योपवेशनम् ।।6.19.33।।


ततः thereafter, विपुलग्रीवः broadnecked, सुग्रीवः Sugriva, विभीषणवचः Vibheeshana's words of advice, सागरस्य: about Sagara, उपवेशनम् sitting down, आख्यातुम् to make him know आरेभे: started.

Thereafter broadnecked Sugriva started to communicate to Rama the advice of Vibheeshana about Sagara.
प्रकृत्याधर्मशीलस्यराघवस्याप्यरोचत ।।6.19.34।।

सलक्ष्मणंमहातेजास्सुग्रीवंचहरीश्वरम् ।

सत्क्रियार्थंक्रियादक्षंस्मितपूर्वमुवाचह ।।6.29.35।।


प्रकृत्या: by nature, धर्मशीलस्य: one who is of righteous character, अस्यरामस्यापि: to Rama also, रोचित: pleasing, महातेजाः brilliant, सः he, लक्ष्मणम् Lakshmana, क्रियादक्षम् skilful at action, हरीश्वरम् king of Vanaras, सुग्रीवंच: and Sugriva also, सत्क्रियार्थम् about the task to be undertaken, स्मितपूर्वम् smilingly, उवाच: said.

To Rama who was by nature righteous the advice (of Vibheeshana) was pleasing. To the brilliant Lakshmana of skilful action, to Sugriva the king of monkeys, Rama said smilingly.
विभीषणस्यमन्त्रोऽयंममलक्ष्मण रोचते ।

सुग्रीवःपण्डितोनित्यंभवान्मन्त्रविचक्षणः ।।6.19.36।।

उभाभ्यांसम्प्रधार्यार्थंरोचतेयत्तदुच्यताम् ।


लक्ष्मण Lakshmana, विभीषणस्य: Vibheeshana's, आयंमन्त्रः this advice, मम: to me,रोचते: pleasing, सुग्रीवः Sugriva, पण्डितः learned, भवान् me, नित्यम् ever, मन्त्रविशारद: capable of good advice, उभाभ्याम् for both, अर्थम् meaningful, सम्प्रधार्य: tradition, यत् that which, रोचते: appeals, तत् that, उच्यताम् may be told to me.

"Lakshmana This advice of Vibheeshana is pleasing to me. Sugriva is learned, and you are always capable of good advice. That which appeals to both of you, and which is meaningful may be informed to me."
एवमुक्तौततोवीरावुभौसुग्रीवलक्ष्मणौ ।

समुदाचारसंयुक्तमिदंवचनमूचतुः ।।6.19.37।।


ततः then, एवम् that way, उक्तौ: having been said, वीरौ: heroic, सुग्रीवलक्ष्मणौ: to Sugriva and Lakshmana, उभौ: both, समुदाचारसंयुक्तम् mixed with respectful tradition, इदम् these, वचनम् words, ऊचतुः gave reply.

Heroic Rama having said that way to both, Lakshmana and Sugriva replied thus respectfully following tradition (with folded hands).
किमर्थनौनरव्याघ्र: नरोचिष्यतिराघव: ।

विभीषणेनयच्चोक्तमस्मिन् कालेसुखावहम् ।।6.19.38।।


नरव्याघ्र: tiger among kings, राघव: Raghava, अस्मिन् this, काले: time, सुखावहम् good, यत् that which, विभीषणेन: by Vibheeshana, उक्तम् has been spoken, नौ: us, किमर्थम् why will, नरोचिष्यति: it not be pleasing.

"O Raghava, the tiger among kings Why will this good advice given to us at this time by Vibheeshana be not pleasing?" Sugriva and Lakshmana said to Rama."
अबध्वासागरेसेतुंघोरेऽस्मिन्वरुणालये ।

लङ्कानासादितुंशक्यासेन्द्रैरपिसुरासुरैः ।।6.19.39।।


घोरे: terrific, वरुणालये: ocean, अस्मिन् सागरे: over this ocean, सेतुम् bridge, अबध्वा: building, लङ्का: Lanka city, सेन्द्रैरपि: even for Indra, सुरासुरैरपि: for Suras and Asuras also, आसादितुम् to cross over, नशक्या: not possible.

Without building a bridge over this terrific ocean, the abode of Varuna, it is not possible to cross over to Lanka even for Indra, suras or Asuras.
विभीषणस्यशूरस्ययथार्थंक्रियतांवचः ।।6.19.40।।

अलंकालात्ययंकृत्वासागरोऽयंनियुज्यताम् ।

यथासैन्येनगच्छामपुरींरावणपालिताम् ।।6.19.41।।


शूरस्य: valiant, विभीषणस्य: Vibheeshana's, वचः words of advice, यथार्थम् are true, क्रियताम् to execute, कालात्ययम् no use was ting time, कृत्वा: to do, अलम् it is enough, रावणपालिताम् ruled by Ravana, पुरीम् city, यथा: like that, सैन्येन: army, गच्छाम: to proceed, सागर: अयं: over th is ocean, नियुज्यताम् let us request.

"Valiant Vibheeshana's words are true. Let us proceed and let us not waste time. Let us request Sagara to help the army to be able to proceed to Lanka ruled by Ravana (Sugriva and Lakshmana said to Rama)."
एवमुक्तःकुशास्तीर्नोतीरेनदनदीपतेः ।

संविवेशतदारामोवेद्यामिवहुताशनः ।।6.19.42।।


एवम् in that way, उक्तः having said, रामः Rama, तदा: then, नदनदीपतेः ocean, कुशास्तीर्णे: on the Kusa grass mat, तीरे: shore, हुताशन: fire God, वेद्यामिव: like in the sacrificial altar, संविवेश: sat.

Then when they (Sugriva and Lakshmana) said so to Rama, he sat on Kusa grass mat on the shore of the ocean just as fire stayed in the sacrificial altar.
