[Vibheeshana encourages Vanaras to fight against Rakshasas. Dreadful fight takes place between Lakshmana and Indrajith both releasing a volley of arrows. Charioteer of Indrajith gets killed by Lakshmana, the horses get killed by the Vanaras. Indrajith walks down desperately.]

युध्यमानौतुतौदृष्टवाप्रसक्तौनरराक्षसौ ।

प्रभिन्नाविवमातङ्गौपरस्परवधैषिणौ ।।6.90.1।।

तौद्रष्टुकामस्सङ्ग्रामेपरस्परगतौबली ।

शूरस्सरावणभ्रातातस्थौसङ्ग्राममूर्धनि ।।6.90.2।।


तौ the two, परस्परगतौ overcoming each other, बली powerful, शूरः heroes, सःतु he too, रावणभ्राता Ravana's brother, प्रसक्तौ fond of, सङ्ग्रामे in battle, युध्यमानौ intending to win in fight, प्रभिन्नौ broken to pieces, मातङ्गौइव like elephants, परस्परवधैषिणौ each of them for battle, नरराक्षसौ man and Rakshasa, दृष्टवाseeing, तयोः both, युद्धम् battle, द्रष्टुकामः eager to witness, सङ्ग्राममूर्धनि forefront of the battle, तस्थौ stood

Lakshmana (man) and Indrajith (Rakshasa) were fond of battle and intending to win in the fight overcoming each other. Each of them were like elephants but were broken into pieces. Vibheeshana, with eagerness to witness the battle stood in the forefront of the battlefield watching the fight.
ततोविष्फारयामासमहद्धनुरवस्थितः ।

उत्ससर्ज च तीक्ष्णाग्रान् राक्षसेषुमहाशरान् ।।6.90.3।।


ततः then, अवस्थितः stood, महत् great, धनुः bow, विष्फारयामास stretched, राक्षसेषु on Rakshasas, तीक्ष्णाग्रान् sharp pointed, महाशरान् great arrows, उत्ससर्ज च loosened.

Then Vibheeshana stood with stretched bow and loosened sharp pointed arrows on Rakshasas.
तेशराःशिखिसम्पर्शानिपतन्तस्समाहिताः ।

राक्षसान् दारयामासुर्वज्राणीवमहागिरीन् ।।6.90.4।।


समाहिताः settled, निपतन्तः fallen, शिखिसम्पर्शाः touching, ते those, शराः arrows, वज्राणि thunderbolts, महागिरीन् इव like mountain, राक्षसान् Rakshasas, दारयामासुः split

Those burning arrows falling on Rakshasas touched the Rakshasas and split them like thunderbolt splitting mountains.
विभीषणस्यानुचरास्तेपिशूलासिपट्टसै: ।

चिच्छिदुःसमरेवीरान्राक्षसान्राक्षसोत्तमाः ।।6.90.5।।


विभीषणस्य Vibheeshana's, अनुचराः followers, ते those, राक्षसोत्तमाःअपि foremost of Rakshasa also, समरे in battle, वीरान् heroes, राक्षसान् Rakshasas, शूलासिपट्टस : pikes, swords and sharp edged spears, चिच्छिदुः shattered

Followers of Vibheeshana, the foremost of Rakshasa heroes, were shattered by the pikes, swords, and sharpedged spears in the battle.
राक्षसैस्स्सैःपरिवृतस्सतदातुविभीषणः ।

बभौमध्येप्रहृष्टानामाकलभानामिवद्विपः ।।6.90.6।।


तदा then, तैः they, राक्षसैः Rakshasas, परिवृतः surrounding, सःविभीषणः Vibheeshana, प्रहृष्टानाम् delighted, कलभानाम् young elephants, मध्ये midst, द्विपःइव shone, बभौ remained

Vibheeshana surrounded by Rakshasas shone like an elephant in the midst of young elephants.
ततस्स्संञ्चोदयानोवैहरीन्रक्षोरणप्रियान् ।

उवाचवचनंकालेकालज्ञोरक्षसांवरः ।।6.90.7।।


ततः then, कालज्ञः knower of What was right at What time, रक्षसांवरः Rakshasa, काले time, रक्षोरणप्रियान् who were eager to fight with Rakshasas, हरीन् Vanaras, स्संञ्चोदयामास emboldening, वचनम् words, उवाचवै spoke

Then Vibheeshana, who is a knower of what is the right time to act spoke to Vanaras to embolden them who were eager to fight with Rakshasas.
एकोऽयंराक्षसेन्द्रस्यपरायणमवस्थितः ।

एतच्छेषंबलंतस्यकिंतिष्ठतहरीश्वराः ।।6.90.8।।


हरीश्वराः Vanara leaders, अयम् this, एकः only one, राक्षसेन्द्रस्य Rakshasa's king's, परायणम् gone, अवस्थितः is there, तस्य his, बलम् army, एतच्छेषम् left, किम् why, तिष्ठत stand idle

"Oh Vanara leaders! He (Indrajith) is the only one who is left in the Rakshasa army. Why do you stand idle?"
अस्मिंन्विनिहतेपापेराक्षसेरणमूर्थनि ।

रावणंवर्जयित्वातुशेषमस्यबलंहतम् ।।6.90.9।।


रणमूर्थनि in the forefront of battle, पापे wicked, अस्मिन् in his, राक्षसे raksasas, विनिहते struck down, रावणम् Ravana, वर्जयित्वा leaving, अस्य his, शेषम् left, बलम् army, हतम् killed

"If this wicked Rakshasa is struck down, except Ravana all his army is killed."
प्रहस्तोनिहतोवीरोनिकुम्भश्चमहाबल. ।

कुम्भकर्णश्चकुम्भश्चधूम्राक्षश्चनिशाचरः ।।6.90.10।।

जम्बुमालीमहामालीतीक्ष्णवेगोऽशनिप्रभः ।

सुप्तघ्नोयज्ञकोपश्चवज्रदंष्ट्रश्चराक्षसः ।।6.90.11।।

सम्ह्रादीविकटोऽरिघ्नस्तपनोदमएव च ।

प्रघासःप्रघसश्चैवप्रजङ्घोजङ्घएव च ।।6.90.12।।

अग्निकेतुश्चदुर्धर्षोरश्मिकेतुश्चवीर्यवान् ।

विद्युज्जिह्वाद्विजिह्वश्चसूर्यशत्रुश्चराक्षसः ।।6.90.13।।

अकम्पनःसुपार्श्वश्चचक्रमाली च राक्षसः ।

"The heroic Prahastha, Nikumbha also and Kumbhakarna of mighty prowess, Kumbha also, night ranger Dum raksha, Jambumali, Mahamali, Teekshanavega, Asanibhra, Suptanga, Yagnakopa, Vajradamshtra, Rakshasas Simhadri, Arigna, Vikata, Tapana, Dama also, Praghaasa, Praghasa, Prajaghna, and Jaghan also, Durdarsha, Agniketha, heroes Rasmikethu, Vidyajihva, Dwijihwa, Suryasatru, and Rakshasas Akampana, Suparswa, Chakramali, and Rakshasas Kampana, and energetic Devanthaka and Naranthaka have been killed by you."
एतान्निहत्यातिबलान्बहून्राक्षससत्तमान् ।

बाहुभ्यांसागरंतीर्त्वालङ्घ्यतांगोष्पदं लघु ।6.90.15।।


अतिबलान् exceeding might, एतान् all of them, बहून् many, राक्षससत्तमान् leaders of Rakshasas, निहत्य killed, बाहुभ्याम् many, सागरम् ocean, तीर्त्वा swum, लघु small, गोष्पदम् hoof mark of cowलङ्घ्यताम् cross without delay

"You have made short of many exceedingly mighty leaders of Rakshasas and swum the ocean. You cross this hoof mark of a cow without delay."
एतावदेवशेषंवोजेतव्यमिहवानराः ।

हतास्सर्वेसमागम्यराक्षसाबलदर्पिताः ।।6.90.16।।


वानराः Vanara, वः only, इह, nowजेतव्यम् to be conquered, एतावदेव remains, शेषम् left over, बलदर्पिताः proud of their might, सर्वे all, राक्षसाः Rakshasas, समागम्य meeting, हताःkilled

"O Vanaras! Left over Rakshasas only to be conquered now. Rakshasas, who were proud of their might have been killed on meeting you."
अयुक्तंनिधनंकर्तुंपुत्रस्यजनितुर्मम ।

घृणामपास्यरामार्थेनिहन्यांभ्रातुरात्मजम् ।।6.90.17।।


जनितुः father, मम my, पुत्रस्य son like, निधनम् striking, कर्तुम् will do, अयुक्तम् not proper, रामार्धे for the sake of Rama, घृणाम् taking pity, अपास्य helpless, भ्रातुः brother, आत्मजम् my son, निहन्याम् take out life

"For the sake of Rama, I will strike my brother's son. Being a father, taking pity, I am helpless as it is not proper for me to take the life of my son."
हन्तुकामस्यमेबाष्पंचक्षुश्चैवनिरुध्यति ।

तमेवैषमहाबाहुर्लक्ष्मणश्शमयिष्यति ।।6.90.18।।

वानराघ्नतसम्भूयभृत्यानस्यसमीपगान् ।


हन्तुकामस्य wish to kill, मे my, चक्षुः eyes, बाष्पम् tears, निरुध्यति clouding, महाबाहुः mightyarmed, एषः so, लक्ष्मणःएव Lakshmana, तमशमयिष्यति will kill him, वानराःVanara, सम्भूय collected, अस्य to him, समीपगान् coming near, भृत्यान् attendants, घ्नत destroy

"I wish to kill him, tears are clouding my eyes. Mighty armed Lakshmana will kill him. Vanaras collected together are coming near him and can destroy his attendants."
इतितेनातियशसाराक्षसेनाभिचोदिताः ।।6.90.19।।

वानरेन्द्राजहृषिरेलाङ्गूलानि च विव्यधुः ।


इति thus, अतियशसा encouraging, तेन by that, राक्षसेन Rakshasa, अभिचोदिताः incited, वानरेन्द्राःVanara chiefs जहृषिरे rejoiced, लाङ्गूलानि shaking their tails, विव्यधुः च went swiftly

Incited by the encouraging words of Vibheeshana (Rakshasa), Vanara chiefs rejoiced and went shaking their tails.
ततस्तुकपिशार्दूलाःश्रवेन्तःश्चपुनःपुनः ।।6.90.20।।

मुमुचुर्विविधान्नादान्मेघान् दृष्टवेवबर्हिणः ।


ततः then, कपिशार्दूलाः tigers among monkeys, पुनःपुनः again and again, श्रवेड़न्तःश्च roaring, मेघान् clouds, दृष्टवा seen, बर्हिणःइव like peacocks, विविधान् several, नादान् sounds, मुमुचुः made

Then the tigers among monkeys again and again roaring in seeing the clouds made several kinds of sounds like peacocks.
जाम्बवानपितैःसर्वैःसयूथ्यैरभिसम्वृतः ।।6.90.21।।

तेऽश्मभिस्ताडयामासुर्नखैर्धन्स्सैश्चराक्षसान् ।


सर्वैः all, तैः of them, सयूथ्यैः troops, अभिसम्वृतः surrounded, जाम्बवानपि Jambavan, ते they, राक्षसान् Rakshasas, आश्मभिः their, नकैः nails, दन्स्सैश्च and teeth, ताडयामासुः pierced

All the troops surrounded by Jambavan too, pierced the Rakshasas with their nails and teeth.
निघ्नन्तमृक्षाधिपतिंराक्षसास्तेमहाबलाः ।।6.90.22।।

परिवव्रुर्भयंत्यक्त्वातमनेकविधायुथाः ।


महाबलाः endowed with mighty strength, तेराक्षसाः the Rakshasas, अनेकविधायुधाः different kinds of weapons, निघ्नन्तम् striking, तंऋक्षाधिपतिम् the Lord of Bears, भयम् fear, त्यक्त्वा giving up, परिवव्रुः surrounded

The Rakshasas who were endowed with mighty strength giving up fear, armed with different kinds of weapons surrounded Jambavan, the Lord of Bears.
शरैःपरशुभिस्तीक्ष्णैःपट्टिशैर्यष्टितोमरैः ।।6.90.23।।

जाम्बवन्तंमृधेजघ्नुर्निघ्नन्तंराक्षसींचमूम् ।


मृधे, राक्षसीम् Rakshasas, चमूम् army, निघ्नन्तम् destroying, जाम्बवन्तम् Jambavan, शरैः arrows, तीक्ष्णैः pointed, परशुभिः axes, पट्टिशैः iron bars, यष्टितोमरैः sharpedged spears, जघ्नुः assailed

The Rakshasas then assailed Jambvan who was destroying the Rakshasa army with axes, pointed arrows, iron bars and sharpedged spears.
स सम्प्रहारस्तुमुलःसञ्जज्ञेकपिरक्षसाम् ।।6.90.24।।

देवासुराणांक्रुद्धानांयथाभीमोमहास्वनः ।


कपिरक्षसाम् Vanaras and Rakshasas, सः they, तुमुलः vehement, महास्वनः in loud clamour, भीमः fearful, सः they, सम्प्रहार battle, क्रुद्धानां enraged, देवासुराणांयथा like the battle of Devas and asuras, सञ्जज्ञे took place

Fearful and vehement battle took place between enraged Vanaras and Rakshasas making loud clamours like the battle (in the past) between Devas and asuras.
हनुमानपिसङ्क्रुद्धःसानुमुत्पाट्यपर्वतात् ।।6.90.25।।

स लक्ष्मणंस्वयंपृष्ठादवरोप्यमहामनाः ।

रक्षसांकदनंचक्रेसमासाद्यसहस्रशः ।।6.90.26।।


महामनाः great self, सःहनुमानपि Hanuman too, सङ्क्रुद्धः very furious, लक्ष्मणम् Lakshmana, स्वयम् himself, पृष्ठात् back, अवरोप्य dismount, पर्वतात् from a mountain, सानुम्Sala tree, उत्पाट्य uprooted, समासाद्य thousands, सहस्रशः thousands, रक्षसाम् of Rakshasa, कदनम् exterminate, चक्रे went on

Great selfHanuman too became furious and dismounting Lakshmana from his back uprooted a sala tree from a mountain and went on exterminating thousands of Rakshasas.
स दत्त्वातुमुलंयुद्धंपितृव्यस्येन्द्रजत् बली ।

लक्ष्मणंपरवीरघ्नःपुनरेवाभ्यधावत ।।6.90.27।।


बली mighty, परवीरघ्नः who can give tough fight to enemies, सःइन्द्रजित् that Indrajith, पितृव्यस्य father's brother, तुमुलम् violent, युद्धम् fight, दत्त्वा giving, पुनरेव again, लक्ष्मणम् Lakshmana, अभ्यधावत् rushed towards

Mighty Indrajith who can give tough fight to enemies gave a violent fight to his father's brother and again rushed towards Lakshmana.
तौप्रयुद्दौतदावीरौमृधेलक्ष्मणराक्षसौ ।

शरौघानभिवर्षन्तौजघ्नतुस्तौपरस्परम् ।।6.90.28।।


मृधे bear, प्रयुद्धौ in that battle, तौ those two, वीरौ heroes, लक्ष्मणराक्षसौ Lakshmana and Rakshasa, शरौघान् streams of arrows, अभिवर्षन्तौ raining on each, तौ the two, परस्परम् one another, जघ्नतुःengaged in battle

In that battle the two heroes, Lakshmana and Indrajith rained streams of arrows on each other and engaged themselves in the battle.
अभीक्षणमन्तर्धदतुश्शरजालैर्महाबलौ ।

चन्द्रादित्याविवोष्णान्तेयथामेघैस्तरस्विनौ ।।6.90.29।।


महाबलौ mighty, तरस्विनौ energetic, उष्णान्ते after summer, मेघैः clouds, चन्द्रादित्याविवयथा like moon and Sun, शरजालैः net of arrows, अभीक्षणम् frequently, अन्तर्धधतुः are veiled

Both the mighty and energetic heroes, covered each other with arrows just as after summer the moon and Sun are veiled frequently by clouds.
न ह्यादानं न सन्धानंधनुषोवापरिग्रहः ।

न विप्रमोक्षोबाणानां न विकर्षो न विग्रहः ।।6.90.30।।

न मुष्टिप्रतिसन्धानं न लक्ष्यप्रतिपादनम् ।

अदृश्यततयोस्तत्रयुध्यतोःपाणिलाघवात् ।।6.90.31।।


तत्र there, युध्यतो while fighting in battle, तयोः both, पाणिलाघवात् due to quickness of hand movement, धनुषः bow, परिग्रहःवा taking out or, न अदृश्यत drawing out, बाणानाम् arrows from the quiver, आदानम् seizing, न हि not clear, सन्धानम् aiming, न not, विप्रमोक्षः shot, न विकर्षः not drawing, नor, विग्रहः stretching out, न or, मुष्टिप्रतिसन्धानम् fixing with fist, न or, लक्ष्यप्रतिपादनम् hitting the target, न or not

While both were fighting, due to the quickness of their hand movement, it could not be perceived whether they were taking out arrows from the quiver, drawing the string, or seizing arrows, or aiming to shoot or not. Whether they were drawing or stretching the bow or not or fixing with their fist or hitting the target or not, was not clear.
चापवेगप्रयुक्स्सैश्चबाणजालैःसमन्ततः ।

अन्तरिकेऽभिसम्पन्ने न रूपाणिचकाशिरे ।।6.90.32।।


चापवेगप्रयुक्स्सैः discharging from the bow swiftly, बाणजालैः net of arrows, समन्ततः all over, अन्तरिक्षे the sky, अभिसम्पन्ने covered, रूपाणि object, न चकाशिरे could be seen

As they were discharging arrows from the bow swiftly, the arrows formed a net covering all over the sky and no object could be visible.
लक्ष्मणोरावणिंप्राप्यरावणिश्चापिलक्ष्मणम् ।

अव्यवस्थाभवत्युग्राताभ्यामन्योन्यविग्रहे ।।6.90.33।।


लक्ष्मणः Lakshmana, रावणिम् Indrajith, प्राप्य meeting, रावणिश्चापि Indrajith also, लक्ष्मणम् Lakshmana, प्राप्य reaching, ताभ्याम् both, अन्योन्यविग्रहे one another stretching, उग्रा in front, अव्यवस्था confusion, भवति prevailed

As Lakshmana was meeting Indrajith and Indrajith was reaching out to Lakshmana, confusion prevailed about who was hitting whom?
ताभामुभाभ्यांतरसाप्रसृष्टैर्विशिखैःशितैः ।

निरन्तरमिवाकाशंबभूवतमसावृतम् ।।6.90.34।।


ताभ्याम् both of them, उभाभ्याम् one over the other, तरसा swiftly, प्रसृष्टैः extended, शितैः whetted, विशिखैः arrows, निरन्तरमिव continuously, आकाशम् the sky, तमसा dark, वृम् shrouded, बभूव became

while both of them one over the other swiftly extended and loosened the whetted arrows continuously, the sky, shrouded with arrows, became dark.
तैःपतभदिश्चबहुभिस्तयोःशरशतैःशितैः ।

दिशश्चप्रदिशश्चैवबभूवुःशरसङ्कुलाः ।।6.90.35।।


पतभदिः falling, शितैः pointed, बहुभिः many, तयोः the two, शरशतैः hundreds of arrows, दिशश्च directions, प्रदिशश्च intermediate directions, शरसङ्कुलाः arrows spread, बभूवुः many

Many hundreds of pointed arrows falling in all directions and intermediate points spread all over.
तमसापिहितंसर्वमासीत्प्रतिभयंमहत् ।

अस्तंगतेसहस्रांशेसम्वृतेतमसा च वै ।।6.90.36।।

रुधिरौघामहानद्यःप्रावर्तन्तसहस्रशः ।


सर्वम् everything, तमसा darkness, पिहितम् enveloped, महत् great, प्रतिभयम् dreadful appearance, आसीत् exists, सहस्रांशो thousand rays, अस्तंगते sinks down, तमसा darkness, सम्वृते envelops, सहस्रशः thousands, रुधिरौघमहानद्यः blood streams, प्रावर्तन्त flowed

As the sun sank down, darkness enveloped, everything was dark and dreadful in appearance. Streams of blood of thousands flowed.
क्रव्यादादारुणावाग्भिश्चिक्षिपुर्भीमनिःस्वनान् ।।6.90.37।।

न तदानींवनौवायुर्न च जज्वालपावकः ।


दारुणाः frightful, क्रव्यादाः cries of carnivorous animals, वाग्भि: their tongues, भीमनिःस्वनान् frightening sounds, चिक्षिपुःemitted, तदानीम्, वायुः wind, न वनौ not blew, पावकः च fire, न जज्वाल not glowed

Carnivorous animals cried frightfully with their tongues. Wind did not blow, the fire did not glow.
स्व्स्त्वस्तुलोकेभ्यइतिजजल्पुस्तेमहर्षयः ।।6.90.38।।

सम्पेतुश्चात्रसन्तप्तागन्धर्वाःसहचारणैः ।


लोकेभ्यः worlds, स्वस्तिwell, अस्तु be, इति thus, ते to you, महर्षयः sages, जजल्पुः murmured, सन्तप्ताः worried, गन्धर्वाः Gandharvas, चारणैःसह Charanas, अत्र there, सम्पेतुः went distressed

Sages murmured saying" may this world be well." Gandharvas, Charanas (who came to see the battle) went distressed.
अथराक्षससिंहस्यकृष्णान् कनकभूषणान् ।।6.90.39।।

शरैश्चतुर्भिःसौमित्रिद्विव्याधचतुरोहयान् ।


अथ and then, सौमित्रिः Saumithri, राक्षससिंहस्य lion of Rakshasas, कनकभूषणान् decked in gold, कृष्णान् black, चतुरः four, हयान् horses, चतुर्भिः all the four, शरैः with shafts, विव्याध finished

Then Saumithri pierced with four shafts all the four black horses decked in gold, of the lion of Rakshasas (Indrajith) and finished them
ततोऽपरेणभल्लेनपीतेननिशितेन च ।।6.90.40।।

सम्पूर्णायतमुक्तेनसुपत्रेणसुवर्चसा ।

महेन्द्राशनिकल्पेनसूतस्यविचरिष्यतः ।।6.90.41।।

स तेनबाणाशनिनातलशब्दानुवादिना ।

लाघवाद्राघवःश्रीमान् शिरःकायादपाहरत् ।।6.90.42।।


ततः then, श्रीमान् glorious, सःराघवः Raghava, पीतेन glowing, निशितेन च pointed, सम्पूर्णायुतमुक्तेन released with full force, सुपत्रेण beautiful plumes, सुवर्छसा splendid, महेन्द्राशनिकल्पेन deadly as Indra's thunderbolt, तलशब्दानुनादिना resounded with hilt of the sword, भल्लेन bhalla, तेन by that, आपरेण to remove, बाणाशनिना with arrows, विचरिष्यतः driving in circles, सूतस्य charioteer, शिरः head, लाघवात् easily, कायात् body, अपाहरत् severed

Then glorious Raghava with pointed bhalla furnished with beautiful plumes, splendid, deadly as Indra's thunderbolt, released and as it resounded the hit of the sword and severed the head from the body of the charioteer, who was driving in circles.
स यन्तरिमहातेजाहतेमन्दोदरीसुतः ।

स्वयंसारथ्यमकरोत्सुनश्चधनुरस्प ृशत् ।।6.90.43।।


यन्तरि charioteer, हते killed, महातेजाः brilliant, सः he, मन्दोदरीसुतः Indrajith (son of Mandodari), स्वयम् himself, सारथ्यम्? driving the chariot, अकरोत् role of charioteer, पुनश्च again, धनुः bow, अस्पृशत् wielded

When the charioteer got killed, the brilliant son of Mandodari, played the role of charioteer and wielded the bow again.
तदद्भुतमभूत्तत्रसामर्थ्यंपश्यतांयुधि ।

हयेषुव्यग्रहस्तं त विव्याधनिशितैःशरैः ।।6.90.44।।

धनुष्यथपुनर्व्यग्रेहयेषुमुमुचेशरान् ।


युधि in battle, तत्र there, तत् that, सामर्थ्यम् capacity, पश्यताम् onlookers, तत् those, अद्भुतम् wonder, अभूत् created, हयेषु horses also, व्यग्रहस्तम् holding in hand, तम् them, निशितैः pointed, शरैः arrows, विव्याध assailed, अत then, पुनःagain, धनुषि bow, व्यग्रे occupied, हयेषु with horses, शरान् arrows, मुमुचे loosened

While Indrajith was engaged with the horses in one hand and battling, his capacity was a wonder to the onlookers. Lakshmana again attacked him loosening pointed arrows at him while Indrajith was busy with his bow.
छिद्रेषुतेषुबाणौघैर्विचरन्तमभीतवत् ।।6.90.45।।

अर्धयामाससमरेसौमित्रिःशीघ्रकृत्तमः ।


शीघ्रकृत्तमः one who acts with extreme alacrity, सौमित्रिः Saumithri, समरे in battle, अभीतवत् fearless, विचरन्तम् moving, तेषु that way, छिद्रेषु easily pierced, बाणौघैः with arrows अर्धयामास moving to hurt

While Indrajith was moving undaunted being hurt, Lakshmana who acts with extreme alacrity and fearless easily pierced Indrajith with arrows.
निहतंसारथिंदृष्टवासमरेरावणात्मजः ।।6.90.46।।

प्रजहौसमरोद्धर्षंविषण्णः स बभूव ह ।


सःरावणात्मजः Ravana's son, समरे in the battle, निहतम् killed, सारथिम् charioteer, दृष्टवा seeing, समरोद्धर्षम् enthusiasm to fight, प्रजहौ people, विषण्णः despondent, बभूव grew

Seeing the charioteer killed, Ravana's son was despondent and lost enthusiasm to fight (said people).
विषण्णवदनंदृष्टवाराक्षसंहरियूथपाः ।।6.90.47।।

ततःपरमसम्हृष्टालक्ष्मणंचाभ्यपूजयन् ।


हरियूथपाः Vanara leaders, विषण्णवदनम् worried face, राक्षसम् of Rakshasa, दृष्टवा seeing, ततः then, परमसम्हृष्टाः very joyful, लक्ष्मणम् Lakshmana, अभ्यपूजयन् acclaimed

The Vanara leaders were joyful upon seeing the worried face of the Rakshasa and acclaimed Lakshmana.
ततःप्रमाथीरभसःशरभोगन्धमादनः ।।6.90.48।।

अमृष्यमाणाश्चत्वारश्चक्रुर्वेगंहरीश्वराः ।


ततः then, प्रमाथीः Pramati, रभसः Rabahasa, शरभः Sarabha, गन्धमादनः Gandhamadana, चत्वारः exhibited, हरीश्वराः Lord of monkeys, अमृष्यमाणाः intolerant, वेगम् quickly, चक्रुः went

Then the four monkey leaders, Pramati, Rabahasa, Sarabha, and Gandamadhana exhibited their intolerance and went quickly.
तेचास्यहयमुख्येषुतूर्णमुत्पत्यवानराः ।।6.90.49।।

चतुर्षुसुमहावीर्यानिपेतुर्भीमविक्रमाः ।


सुमहावीर्याः of remarkable valour, भीमविक्रमाः of terrible courage, ते they, वानराः Vanaras, तूर्णम् immediately, उत्पत्य getting up, अस्य those, हयमुख्येषु best of horses, निपेतुः fell

The four Vanaras of remarkable valour and of terrific courage getting up immediately fell on the best of the horses (of Indrajith).
तेषामधिष्ठितानांतैर्वानरैःपर्वतोपमैः ।।6.90.50।।

मुखेभ्योरुधिरंरक्तंहयानांसमवर्तत ।


पर्वतोपमैः huge as mountains, तैःवानरैः those Vanaras, अधिष्ठितानाम् getting on top, तेषांहयानाम् of those horses, मुखेभ्य mouths, रक्तम् blood, रुदिरम् red, समवर्तत flowed

Those Vanaras of huge mountain forms getting on top of those horses (of Indrajith),
तेहयामथिताभग्नाव्यसवोधरणींगताः ।।6.90.51।।

तेनिहत्यहयांस्तस्यप्रमथ्य च महारथम् ।

पुनरुत्पत्यवेगेनतस्थुर्लक्ष्मणपार्श्वतः ।।6.90.52।।


मथिताः mutilated, तेहयाः those horses, भग्नाः broken, व्यसवः sank, धरणीम् into earth, गताः went, ते they, तस्य their, हयान् horses, निहत्य killed, महारथम् great chariot, प्रमथ्य च bounding, पुनः again, वेगेन quickly, उत्पत्य getting up, लक्ष्मणपार्श्वतः nearby Lakshmana, तस्थुः stood

The horses were mutilated, broken, and sunk into the earth and killed. Again, bounding the great chariot, they got up quickly and stood nearby Lakshmana.
स हताश्वादवप्लुत्यरथान्मथितसारथिः ।

शरवर्षेणसौमित्रिमभ्यधावतरावणिः ।।6.90.53।।


हतसारथिः charioteer dead, सःरावणिः that Indrajith, हताश्वात् horses killed, रथात् chariot, अवप्लुत्य leaping down, शरवर्षेण by raining arrows, सौमित्रिम् at Saumithri, अभ्यधावत assailed

Charioteer dead, horses killed that Indrajith leapt down and assailed Lakshmana by raining arrows.
ततोमहेन्द्रप्रतिमः स लक्ष्मणःपदातिनंतंनिहतैर्हयोत्तमैः ।

सृजन्तमाजौनिशितान्शरोत्तमान् भृशंतदाबाणगणैर्न्यवारयत् ।।6.90.54।।


ततः there upon, महेन्द्रप्रतिमः who resembles Mahendra, सः he, लक्ष्मणः Lakshmana, निहतैः killed, हयोत्तमैः best of horses, पदातिनम् walking, आजौ, निशितान् sharp, शरोत्तमान् best of arrows, सृजन्तम् discharging, तम् him, तदा then, भृशम् powerful, माणगणैः volley of, न्यवारयत् obstructed

Then the best of horses killed, Indrajith was returning by walk, after having discharged sharpened best of shafts, He was obstructed by Lakshmana, who closely resembled mighty Mahendra, who had powerful volley of arrows.
