[Indrajith's fall after a fierce combat with Lakshmana.]

स हताश्वोमहातेजाभूमौतिष्ठन्निशाचरः ।

इन्द्रजित्परमक्रुद्धस्सजज्वालतेजसा ।।6.91.1।।


हताश्वः horses, महातेजाः effulgent, निशाचरः nightranger, इन्द्रजित् Indrajith, भूमौ on the ground, तिष्ठन् stood, परमक्रुद्धः very angry, तेजसा energetic, प्रजज्वाल flaming

The nightranger, effulgent Indrajith standing on the ground very angry, with horses lost, was flaming with energy.
तौधवनिनौजिघांसन्तवन्योन्यमिषुभिर्भृशम् ।

विजयेनाभिनिष्क्रान्तौवनेगजवृषाविव ।।6.91.2।।


ध्वनिनौ wielding bows, इषुभिः both, अन्योन्यम् one another, भृशम् exceedingly, जिघांसन्तौ wanting to kill, तौ both, वने forest, विजयेन to succeed, अभिनिष्क्रान्तौ sallied forth, गजवृषौइव like Lordly elephants

Exceedingly wanting to kill one another, wielding bows, both sallied forth like Lordly elephants in the forest, to succeed.
निबर्हयन्तश्चान्योन्यंतेराक्ष्वनौकसः ।

भर्तारं न जहुर्युद्धेसम्पतन्तस्ततस्ततः ।।6.91.3।।


ततस्ततः allover, सम्पतन्तः moving, अन्योन्यम् one another, निबर्हयन्तः killing, ते they, राक्षसवनौकसः Rakshasas and Vanaras, युद्धे in battle, भर्तारम् master, न जहुः not left

Moving all over, both Rakshasas and Vanaras killing one another in the battle did not leave their master.
ततस्तान् राक्षसान् सर्वान् हर्षयन् रावणात्मजः ।

स्तुवानोहर्षमाणश्चइदंवचनमब्रवीत् ।।6.91.4।।


ततः then, रावणात्मजः Ravana's son, तान् them, सर्वान् all, राक्षसान् Rakshasas, हर्षयन् joyful, स्तुवानः praising, हर्षमाणश्च to make them happy, इदंवचनम् these words, अब्रवीत् spoken

Then Ravana's son, praising all the Rakshasas making them happy, spoke these words.
तमसाबहुलेनेमास्सम्सक्तांसर्वतोदिशः ।

नेहविज्ञायतेस्वोवापरोवारक्षसोत्तमाः ।।6.91.5।।


राक्षसोत्तमाः foremost of Rakshasas, इमाः these, दिशःdirections, सर्वतंबहुलेन all over spread, तमसा darkness, सम्सक्ताः therefore, इह now, स्वोवा one's own, परोवा or enemies, न विज्ञायते not able to know

" As all directions are spread with darkness now it is not possible to know who one's own is or others at this time."
धृष्टंभवन्तोयुध्यन्तुहरीणांमोहनायवै ।

अहंतुरथमास्थायआगमिष्यामिसंयुगे ।।6.91.6।।


भवन्तः you, हरीणाम् to Vanaras, मोहनाय deluding, धृष्टम् their sight, युध्यन्तु battle, अहंतुI will, रथम् chariot, आस्थाय taking, संयुगे to battle, आगमिष्यामि will come

"You delude the sight of Vanaras in battle. I will come to the battle taking the chariot."
तथाभवन्तःकुर्वन्तुयथेमेहिवनौकसः ।

न युध्येयुर्दुरात्मानःप्रविष्टेनगरंमयि ।।6.91.7।।


मयि myself, नगरम् city, प्रविष्टे enter, इमे these, दुरात्मानःwicked minded, वनौकसः Vanaras, यथा like that, न युध्येयुः not prevent, भवन्तः you, तथा like that, कुर्वन्तु have to do

"While I enter the city you must see that these wicked minded Vanaras do not prevent me from going."
इत्युक्त्वारावणसुतोवञ्चयित्वावनौकसः ।

प्रविवेशपुरींलङ्कांरथहेतोरमित्रहा ।।6.91.8।।


अमित्रहा slayer of his enemies, रावणसुतः Ravana's son, इति thus, उक्त्वा having spoken, वनौकसः to Vanaras, वञ्चयित्वा deceiving, रथहेतोः for getting the chariot, लङ्कांपुरीम् Lanka city, प्रविवेश entered

Ravana's son, a slayer of his enemies, having spoken to Vanaras in that way, in deceiving manner entered Lanka to get the chariot.
स रथंभूषयित्वाथरुचिरंहेमभूषितम् ।

प्रासासिशरसंयुक्तंयुक्तंपरमवाजिभिः ।।6.91.9।।

अधिष्ठितंहयज्ञेनसूतेनाप्तोपदेशिना ।

आरुरोहमहातेजारावणिःसमतिञ्जियः ।।6.91.10।।


अथ and now, महातेजा of extraordinarily bright, समितिञ्जयःone who has won enemies, सःरावणिःhe, Ravana's son, रुचिरम् beautiful, हेमभूषितम् adorned with gold, प्रासासिशरसंयुक्तम् with darts swords and arrows युक्तम् yoked, हयज्ञेन knower of the nature of horses, आप्तोपदेशिना capable of tendering advice, सूतेन to the charioteer, अधिष्ठितम् driven by, रथम् chariot, भूषयित्वा decorated, आरुरोहascended

Ravana's son ascended a decorated chariot yoked to horses, directed by a charioteer who could tender good advice and a knower of the nature of horses. It was a beautiful chariot decked with darts and swords adorned with gold which Ravana's son of extraordinarily bright, who has won enemies, ascended.
स राक्षसगणैर्मुख्यैर्वृतोमन्दोदरीसुतः ।

निर्ययौनगरावदीरःकृतान्तबलचोदितः ।।6.91.11।।


वीरः heroic, सःमन्दोदरीसुतः that Mandodari's son, मुख्यैः chief, राक्षसगणैः of Rakshasa army, वृतःsurrounded, कृतान्तबलचोदितः impelled by the force of destiny, नगरात् from the city, निर्ययौ departed

Heroic son of Mandodari, impelled by the force of destiny, departed from the city surrounded by Rakshasas.
सोऽभिनिष्क्रम्यनगरादिन्द्रजित्परवीरहा ।

अभ्ययाज्ञवनैरश्वैर्लक्ष्मणंसविभीषणम् ।।6.91.12।।


परवीरहा heroic in destruction of enemies, सःइन्द्रजित् that Indrajith, नगरात् from the city, अभिनिष्क्रम्य having started, जवनैःswift, अश्वैःhorses, सविभीषणम् Vibheeshana, लक्ष्मणम् Lakshmana, अभ्ययात् assailed

Heroic in the act of destruction of enemies, Indarjith having started from the city in his chariot drawn by swift horses assailed Vibheeshana and Lakshmana.
ततोरथस्थमालोक्यसौमत्रीरावणात्मजम् ।

वानराश्चमहावीर्याराक्षसश्चविभीषणः ।।6.91.13।।

विस्मयंपरमंजग्मुर्लाघवात्तस्यधीमतः ।


ततः then, रथस्थम् seated in the chariot, रावणात्मजम् Indrajith, आलोक्य seeing, सौमित्रिः Saumithri, महावीर्याः great hero, वानराश्च at Vanaras, विभीषणश्च Vibheeshana too, धीमतः wise, तस्य his, लाघवात् easily, परमम् highly, विस्मयम् wondered, जग्मुः experienced

Seeing Indrajith seated in the chariot, great hero Lakshmana as well as the Vanaras and Vibheeshana wondered how easily he went and returned.
रावणिश्चापिसङ्क्रुद्धोरणेवानरयूथपान् ।।6.91.14।।

पातयामासबाणौघैःशतशोऽथसहस्रशः ।


रणे in the battle, सङ्क्रुद्धःenraged very much, रावणिश्चापिIndrajith also, बाणौघैः with volley of arrows, शतशः hundreds, अथ and, सहस्रशःthousands, वानरयूथपान् at Vanara leaders, पातयामास struck

Indrajith, highly enraged, struck Vanara leaders with a volley of hundreds and thousands of arrows.
मण्डलीकृतधनूरावणिःसमतिञ्जयः ।।6.91.15।।

हरीनभ्यहनत्कृद्धःपरंलाघवमास्थितः ।


समितिञ्जयः winner of combats, सःरावणिः that Indrajith, मण्डलीकृतधनुः stretching the bow into circle, क्रुद्धः furious, परम् highly, लाघवम् skill, आस्थितःshowing, हरीन् Vanaras, अभ्यहनत् struck

Indrajith, a winner of combat, became highly furious and stretched his bow showing his skill easily struck at Vanaras.
तेवध्यमानाहरयोनाराचैर्भीमविक्रमैः ।।6.91.16।।

सौमित्रिंशरणंप्राप्ताःप्रजापतिमिवप्रजाः ।


नाराचैः endowed with prowess, वध्यमानाः struck, भीमविक्रमाः terrific courage, तेहरयः of the Vanaras, प्रजाःpeople, प्रजापतिमिव like the Lord of people, सौमित्रिम् Saumithri, शरणंप्राप्ताः sought refuge

(The Vanaras), though endowed with prowess and of terrific courage, struck by the Rakshasa, they sought refuge of Lakshmana, their Lord, just as people seek the refuge of their Lord, the creator.
ततःसमरकोपेनज्वलितोरघुनन्दनः ।।6.91.17।।

चिच्छेदकार्मुकंतस्यदर्शयन् पाणिलाघवम् ।


ततः there, रघुनन्दनः delight of Raghus, समरकोपेन angry in battle, ज्वलितः glowing, पाणिलाघवम् showing the skill of his hand s, दर्शनयन् showing, तस्य his, कार्मुकम् bow, चिच्छेद shattered

There, in the battlefield the delight of Raghus glowing with anger shattered the Rakshasas showing the skill of his hand s.
सोन्यऽत्कार्मुकम् मादायसज्जंचक्रेत्वरन्निव ।।6.91.18।।

तदप्यस्यत्रिभिर्बाणैर्लक्ष्मणोनिरकृन्तत ।


सः he, अन्यत् another, कार्मुकम् bow, आदाय seizing, त्वरन्निव hastily, सज्जम् targetted, चक्रे went, लक्ष्मणः Lakshmana, अस्य his, तदपि in that way, त्रिभिःबाणैः three arrows, निरकृन्तत split them

Indrajith seizing another bow hastily targeted at Lakshmana and Lakshmana split them with three arrows.
अथैवंछिन्नधन्वानमाशीविषविषोपमैः ।।6.91.19।।

विव्याधोरसिसौमित्रीरावणिंपञ्चभिःशरैः ।


अथ and then, सौमित्रिः Saumithri, छिन्नधन्वानम् split the bow, एनम् thus, रावणिम् Indrajith, आशीविषविषोपमैः like venomous serpent, पञ्चभिः five, बाणैः arrows, उरसि chest, विव्याध pierced

Then Saumithri pierced with five arrows into the chest of Indrajith like a venomous serpent and split the bow.
तेतस्यकायंनिर्भिद्यमहाकार्मुकनिस्सृताः ।।6.91.20।।

निपेतुर्धरणींबाणारक्ताइवमहोरगाः ।


महाकार्मुकनिःसृताः released from the great bow, तेthose, बाणाः arrows, तस्य his, कायम् body, निर्भिद्य entering, रक्ताः red, महोरगाः huge serpent, इव like, धरणीम् ground, निपेतुःdropped

Those arrows released from the great bow of Lakshmana, entered the body of Indrajithand fell on the ground like a huge red serpent.
भिन्नवर्मारुधिरंवमन्वक्त्रेणरावणिः ।।6.91.21।।

जग्राहकार्मुकश्रेष्ठंदृढज्यंबलवत्तरम् ।


भिन्नवर्मा bow split, वक्त्रेण from mouth, रुधिरम् blood, वमन् ejected, सःरावणिः that Indrajith, दृढज्यम् stout string, बलवत्तरम् strong, कार्मुकश्रेष्ठम् best of bow, जग्राह hold.

Bow split, ejecting blood from mouth, Indrajith took his strong best of bows which had a stout string.
सःलक्ष्मणंसमुद्धिश्यपरंलाघवमाश्रितः ।।6.91.22।।

ववर्षशरवर्षाणिवर्षाणीवपुरन्दरः ।


सः heIndarjith, परम् very, लाघवम् easily, आश्रितः aimed, लक्ष्मणम् at Lakshmana, उद्धिव्य let loose, पुरन्दरः Purandara (destroyer of citadel), वर्षाणीव raining, शरवर्षाणि rain of arrows, ववर्ष rained

Indrajith, aiming at Lakshmana, let loose rain of arrows easily like rain.
मुक्तमिन्द्रजितातत्तुशरवर्षमरिन्दमः ।।6.91.23।।

अवारयदसम्भ्रान्तोलक्ष्मणःसुदुरासदम् ।


अरिन्दमः tamer of enemies, लक्ष्मणः Lakshmaan, इन्द्रजिता Indrajith, मुक्तम् let loose, सुदुरासदम् difficult to resist, शरवर्षम् shower of arrows असम्भ्रान्तः without any reaction, अवारयत् intercepted

Lakshmana, the tamer of enemies, without reacting intercepted the shower of arrows released by Indrajith which was difficult to resist.
संदर्शयामासतदारावणिंरघुनन्दनः ।।6.91.24।।

असम्ब्रान्तोमहातेजेस्तदद्भुतमिवाभवत् ।


महतेजाः highly energetic, रघुनन्दनः delight of Raghus, असम्भ्रान्तः without reacting, तदा then, रावणिम् Indrajith, संदर्शयामास demonstrated, तत् his, अद्भुतमिव wonder, अभूत् indeed

Highly energetic Lakshmana, a delight of Raghus, unperturbed, demonstrated to Indrajith, which was a wonder indeed.
तस्तान् राक्षसान् सर्वांस्त्रिभिरेकैकमाहवे ।।6.91.25।।

अविध्यत्परमक्रुद्धश्शीघ्रास्त्रंसम्प्रदर्शयन् ।

राक्षसेन्द्रसुतंचापिबाणौघैस्समताडयत् ।।6.91.26।।


ततः then, परमक्रुद्धः very angry, शीघ्रास्त्रम् quickly, सम्प्रदर्शयन् exhibiting his skill, तान् them, राक्षसान् Rakshasas, सर्वान् all, एकैकम् each one, त्रिभिः three, अविध्यत् struck, तम् them, राक्षसेन्द्रसुतंचापि even the son of Rakshasa king, बाणौघैः by the arrows, समताडयत् pierced

Then extremely angry Lakshmana pierced all the Rakshasas quickly, each one with three arrows and struck them and even the son of Rakshasa king, exhibiting his skills.
सोऽतिविद्धोबलवताशत्रुणाशत्रुघातिना ।

असक्तंप्रेषयामासलक्ष्मणायबहून् शरान् ।।6.91.27।।


शत्रुघातिना destroyer of hostile enemies, बलवता forcibly, शत्रुणा foes, अतिविद्धः grievously wounded, सः he, लक्ष्मणाय Lakshmana, बहून् many, शरान् arrows, असक्तम् continuously released, प्रेषयामास directed

Indrajith, who was grievously wounded by his hostile enemy, Lakshmana, the destroyer of hostile enemies, continuously discharged arrows at him.
तानप्राप्तान् शितैर्भाणैश्चिच्छेदपरवीरहा ।

सारथेरस्य च रणेरथिवोरघुसत्तमः ।।6.91.28।।

शिरोजहारधर्मात्माभल्लेनानतपर्वणा ।


परवीरहा heroic enemy, अप्राप्तान् discharged, तान् those, शितैः pointed, बाणैः arrows, चिच्छेद shattered, धर्मात्मा righteous, रघुसत्तमः Lakshmana, रणे in battle, रथिनः carwarrior, अस्य its, सारथेः that charioteer, शिरः head, आनतपर्वणा bow, भल्लेन bhala, जहार tore

Heroic enemy, the righteous Lakshmana, tore the head of the carwarrior as well as the charioteer in the battle with bhala (spear), even before Indrajith discharged pointed arrows at him.
सूतास्तेहयास्तत्ररथमूहुरविक्लबाः ।।6.91.29।।

मण्डलान्यभिधावन्तस्तदद्भुतमिवाभवत् ।


तत्र there, असूताः charioteer, ते, हयाः horses, अविक्लबाः without being perplexed मण्डलानि in circles, अभिधावन्तः as they went forward, रथम् chariot, ऊहुः, तत् then, अद्भुतमिव wonderful, अभवत् seemed

There, though there was no charioteer, the horses went round in circles and as they went forward it was wonderful.
अमर्षवशमापन्नःसौमित्रिर्दृढविक्रमः ।।6.91.30।।

प्रत्यविद्ध्यद्धयांस्तस्यशरैर्वित्रासयन् रणे ।


दृढविक्रमः untiring valour, सौमित्रिः Saumithri, रणे in battle, अमर्षवशम् overcome with fury, आपन्नः afflicted, तस्य his, हयान् horses, वित्रासयन् destroyed, शरैः with arrows, प्रत्यविध्यत् struck to scare them

Saumithri of untiring valour, overcome with fury in the battle, struck the horses to scare them and destroyed them.
अमर्षमाणस्तत्कर्मरावणस्यसुतोबली ।।6.91.31।।

विव्याथदशभिर्बाणैस्सौमित्रिंतममर्षणम् ।


रावणस्य Ravana's, सुतः son, बली strong, तत् that, कर्म action, अमृष्यमाणः not tolerating, अमर्षणम् angry, तंसौमित्रिम् that Saumithri, दशभिः ten, बाणैः arrows, विव्याथ struck.

Indrajith, unable to tolerate the action of Saumithri, was angry and struck him with ten arrows.
तेतस्यवज्रप्रतिमाःशरास्सर्पविषोपमाः ।।6.91.32।।

विलयंजग्मुरागत्यकवचंकाञ्चनप्रभम् ।


तस्य his, वज्रप्रतिमाः which resembled thunderbolts, सर्पविषोपमाः like venomous serpents, तेशराः those arrows, काञ्चनप्रभम् glowing like gold, कवचम् shield, आगत्य touched, विलयम् broken, जग्मुः and fallen

His arrows, which resembled thunderbolts and were like venomous serpents, touching Lakshmana's shield shining like gold, broken, and fallen
अभ्येद्यकवचंमत्वालक्ष्मणंरावणात्मजः ।।6.91.33।।

ललाटेलक्ष्मणंबाणैस्सुपुङ्खैस्त्रिभिरिन्द्रजित् ।

अविध्यत्परमक्रुद्धःशीघ्रमस्त्रंप्रदर्शयन् ।।6.91.34।।


रावणात्मजः Ravana's son, इन्द्रजित् Indrajith, लक्ष्मणम् Lakshmana, अभेद्यकवचम् not possible to break, मत्वा knowing, परमक्रुद्धःenraged, अस्त्रम् weapon, शीघ्रम् quickly, प्रदर्शयन् showing, लक्ष्मणम् Lakshmana, सुपुङ्खैः plumes, त्रिभिःमाणैःthree arrows with gems, ललाटे on the forehead, अविध्यत् struck

Ravana's son, knowing that it is not possible to break the shield of Lakshmana, quickly showed his weapon with three arrows with plumes and gems and struck him on the forehead.
तैःपृषत्कैर्ललाटस्थैश्शुशुभेरघुनन्दनः ।

रणाग्रेसमरश्लाघीत्रिशृङ्गइवपर्वतः ।।6.91.35।।


समरश्लाघी who loved to fight, रघुनन्दनः delight of Raghus, ललाटस्थैः on the forehead, तैः those, पृषत्कैः arrows, समरे in battle, त्रिशृङ्गःthree peaks, पर्वतःइव like mountain, शुशुभेcharming peaks.

Lakshmana, the delight of Raghus, who loved to fight, looked charming in the battlefield with three arrows stuck on his forehead looking like three mountain peaks.
स तथाह्यर्दितोबाणैराक्षसेनतदामृधे ।

तमाशुप्रतिविव्याधलक्ष्मणःपञ्चभिःशरैः ।।6.91.36।।

विकृष्वेन्द्रजितोयुद्धेवदनेशुभकुण्डले ।


तदा then, मृधे in battle, राक्षसेन by the Rakshasa, तथा that way, अर्धितः pierced, सःलक्ष्मणः that Lakshmana, आशु immediately, आकृष्य stretching his bow, युद्धे in battle, इन्द्रजितः Indrajith, शुभकुण्डले auspicious earrings, वदने face, तम् him, पञ्चभिः five, शरैः arrows, प्रतिविव्याध struck in return

Then in the battle, pierced by Rakshasa in that manner, Laksmana immediately stretched his bow and struck with five arrows on the face of Indrajith, who was adorned with auspicious earrings.
लक्ष्मणेन्द्रजितौवीरौमहाबलशरासनौ ।।6.91.37।।

अन्योन्यंजघ्नतुर्बाणैर्विशिखैर्मीविक्रमौ ।


वीरौ heroes, महाबलशरासनौ of extraordinary might and equipped with huge arms, भीमविक्रमौ of terrific valour, लक्ष्मणेन्द्रजितौ Lakshmana and Indrajith, विशिखैःsharp, बाणैः arrows, अन्योन्यम् one another, जघ्नतुःstruck

Both heroes of extraordinary might and equipped with huge arms, endowed with terrific valour, Lakshmana and Indrajith struck one another with sharp arrows.
ततःशोणितदिग्धाङ्गौलक्ष्मणेन्दजितावुभौ ।।6.91.38।।

रणेतौराजतुर्वीरौपुष्पिताविवकिंशुकौ ।


ततः then, शोणितदिग्धाङ्गौ smeared with blood, तौ the two, लक्ष्मणेन्द्रजितौ Lakshmana and Indrajit, उभौ both, रणे in battle, पुष्पितौ fully blossomed, किंवुकौइव Kimsuka like, रेजतुः shone

Then smeared with blood the two, Lakshmana and Indrajit, shone like fully blossomed Kimsuka in battle.
तौपरस्परमभ्येत्यसर्वगात्रेषुधवनिनौ ।।6.91.39।।

घोरैर्विव्यधतुर्भाणैःकृतभावावुभौजये ।


जये wishing for victory, कृतभावौ set to tear, धवनिनौ wielding bows, उभौ both, परस्परम् one another, अभ्येत्य opposing, घोरैः dreadful, बाणैः arrows, सर्वगात्रेषु all over the limbs, विव्यधतुः pierced

Both wishing for victory, set to tear each other, pierced dreadful arrows on one another all over the limbs, opposing.
ततःसमरकोपेनसम्वृतोरावणात्मजः ।।6.91.40।।

विभीषणंत्रिभिर्बाणैर्विव्याथवदनेशुभे ।


ततः then, समरकोपेन filled with wrath of conflict, सम्वृतः occassioned by, रावणात्मजः Ravana's son, शुभे charming, वदने countenance, विभीषणम् Vibheeshana, त्रिभिः three, बाणैः arrows, विव्याथ struck

Then Ravana's son in his charming countenance, filled with wrath because of conflict, struck at Vibheeshana with three arrows.
अयोमुखैस्त्रिभिर्विद्ध्वाराक्षसेन्द्रंविभीषणम् ।।6.91.41।।

एकैकेनाभिविव्याथतान्सर्वान् हरियूथपान् ।


राक्षसेन्द्रम् Rakshasa king, विभीषणम् Vibheeshana, त्रिभिः three, अयोमुखैः arrows, विद्ध्वा struck, तान् them, सर्वान् all, हरियूथपान् Vanara leaders, एकैकेन one after another, अभिविव्याथ struck again

Having struck Vibheeshana with three arrows, he struck again all the Vanara leaders with one arrow each.
तस्मैदृढतरंक्रुद्धोजघानगदयाहयान् ।।6.91.42।।

विभीषणोमहातेजारावणेस्सदुरात्मनः ।


महातेजाः brilliant, सःविभीषणः that Vibheeshana, तस्मै his, दृढतरम् mace, क्रुद्धःangry, दुरात्मनःevil minded, रावणेः Indrajith, हयान् horses, गदयाelephants, जघान struck

Brilliant Vibheeshana struck evil minded Indrajith, his horses and elephants with his mace.
पहताश्वादवाप्लुत्यरथान्निहतसारथे: ।।6.91.43।।

रथशक्तिंमहातेजाःपितृव्यायमुमोच ह ।


निहितसारथिः charioteer destroyed, महातेजाः highly energetic, सः he, हतश्वात् horses killed, रथात् from the chariot, अवाप्लुत्य leaping down, अथ now, पितृव्याय uncle, रथ chariot, शक्तिम् javelin, मुमोच ह hurled

Highly energetic Indrajith, leaping down from the chariot, horses destroyed, now hurled a javelin at his uncle in the chariot.
तामापततनींसम्प्रेक्ष्यसुमित्रानन्दवर्धनः ।।6.91.44।।

चिच्छेदनिशितैर्बाणैर्धशथापातयद्भुवि ।


सुमित्रानन्दवर्धनः delight of Sumithra, enhancer of Sumithra's joy, आपतीन्तम् coming towards, ताम् those, सम्प्रेक्ष्य observing, निशितैः pointed, बाणैः arrows, चिच्छेद split it, दशधा to ten, भुवि ground, अपातयत् fallen

Observing the javelin coming towards him, Lakshmana, the delight of Raghus and enhancer of Sumithra's joy, split it into ten pieces, which had fallen on the ground.
तस्मैदृढतनुःक्रुद्धोहताश्वायविभीषणः ।।6.91.45।।

वज्रस्पर्शसमान् पञ्चससर्जोरसिसायकान् ।


दृढतनुः of strong body, विभीषणः Vibheeshana, हताश्वाय horses killed, तस्मै his, क्रुद्धः angry, उरसि chest, वज्रस्पर्शमान् like thunderbolt in impact, पञ्च five, सायकान् arrows, ससर्ज pierced

Vibheeshana of strong body, pierced five arrows like thunderbolt in impact into the chest of Indrajith.
तेतस्यकायंभित्वातुरुक्मपुङ्खानिमित्तगाः ।।6.91.46।।

बभूवुर्लोहितादिग्धारक्ताइवमहोरगाः ।


निमित्तगाः having penetrated, रुक्मपुङ्खाः with red feathers, ते they, तस्य his, कायम् body, भित्वातु piercing, लोहितादिग्धाः red coloured, रक्ताः red, महोरगाः huge serpent, बभूवुः like

The arrows with red feathers of Vibheeshana having penetrated the body of Indrajith, piercing into the body they became red coloured seemed like a red serpent.
सःपितृव्यस्यसङ्क्रुद्धःइन्द्रजिच्छरमाददे ।।6.91.47।।

उत्तमंरक्षसांमध्येयमदत्तंमहाबलम् ।


सःइन्द्रजित् that Indrajith, पितृव्यस्य uncle, सङ्क्रुद्धःangry, रक्षसाम् Rakshasas, मध्ये midst, यमदत्तम् given by Yama, महाबलम् might strong, उत्तमम् best, शरम् arrow, आददे seized

Indrajith, angry with his uncle, staying in the midst of Rakshasas, seized a mighty strong best arrow gifted by Yama.
तंसमीक्ष्यमहातेजामहेषुंतेनसंहितम् ।।6.91.48।।

लक्ष्मणोऽप्याददेबाणमद्यभदीमपराक्रमः ।


महातेजाः extraordinarily brilliant, भीमपराक्रमः of terrific valour, लक्ष्मणोऽपि Lakshmana also, संहितम् yoked, महेषुम् mighty shaft, समीक्ष्य perceiving, अन्यत् another, बाणम् arrow, आददे took up

Extraordinarily brilliant and of terrific valour, Lakshmana, perceiving the mighty shaft yoked by him (by Indrajith), he took up another arrow.
कुबेरेणस्वयंस्वप्नेयद्दत्तममितात्मना ।।6.91.49।।

दुर्जयंदुर्विषह्यं च सेन्द्रैरपिसुरासुरैः ।


यत् that arrow, अमितात्मना god of wealth, कुबेरेण by Kubera, स्वयम् himself, स्वप्ने to him in dream, दत्तम् gifted, सेन्रन्दैः, सुरासुरैरपि even for suras and Asuras, दुर्जयम् difficult to win, दुर्विषह्यं च or to resist

That arrow was gifted to Lakshmana in dream by Kubera, the god of wealth and even Suras or Asuras cannot resist it and is difficult to win.
तयोस्तुधनुषीश्रेष्ठेबाहुभिःपरिघोपमैः ।।6.91.50।।

विकृष्यमाणेबलवत् क्रौञ्चविवचुकूजतुः ।


परिगोपमैः resembling iron bars, बाहुभिः arms, बलवत् with great strength, विकृष्यमाणे drawn, तयोः those two, श्रेष्ठेexcellent, धनुषी bows, क्रौञ्चविव like Krauncha, चुकूजतुः made noise

Excellent bows of the two made noise like Krauncha birds while being drawn with great strength by the two, whose arms resembled iron bars.
ताभ्यांतुधनुषिश्रेष्ठेसंसितौसायकोत्तमौ ।।6.91.51।।

विकृष्यमाणेवीराभ्यांभृशंजज्वलतुःश्रिया ।


ताभ्यांवीराभ्याम् both heroes, श्रेष्ठे best, धनुषि bows, संहितौ together, विकृष्यमाणे drawn with bowstring, सायकोत्तमौ best of arrows, भृशम् powerful, श्रिया splendour, जज्वलतुः shone brightly

The two best bows of both the heroes together, being powerful, shone with splendour when drawn with bowstring.
तौभासयन्तावाकाशंधनुर्भ्यांविशिखौच्युतौ ।।6.91.52।।

मुखेनमुखमाहत्यसन्निपेततुरोजसा ।


धनुर्ब्याम् from the bows, च्युतौ released, तौ those, विशिखौ arrows, आकाशम् sky, भासयन्तौ lighting, मुखेन heads collided, मुखम् hitting the head, आहत्य meeting, ओजसा glowing, सन्निपेततुः rubbed against each other

Those arrows released from the bows lit the sky when their heads collided with each other and glowed by rubbing against each other.
सन्निपातस्तयोश्चासीच्छरयोर्घोररूपयोः ।।6.91.53।।

सधूमविस्फुलिङ्गश्चतज्जोऽनगिर्दारुणोऽभवत् ।


घोररूपयोः formidable form, तयोः those two शरयोः arrows, सन्निपातः rubbed against each other, सधूमविस्फुलिङ्गः fierce fire with smoke, आसीत् came out, तज्ञःsparks, अग्नी: fire, दारुणः fear, अभवत् created

By the impact of the two arrows brought together, a formidable form of fire frightening with smoke and sparks was created.
तौमहाग्रहसङ्काशावन्योन्यंसन्निपत्य च ।।6.91.54।।

सङ्ग्रामेशतधायातौमेदिन्यांचैवपेततुः ।


सङ्ग्रामे in battle, महाग्रहसङ्काशौ like major planets, तौ they both, अन्योन्यम् one another, सन्निपत्य touching with each other, शतदा hundred pieces, यातौ in conflict, मेदिन्याम् on the earth, पेततुः fell

In the battle both of them touching each other in conflict like the major planets flew into a hundred pieces and fell on earth.
शरौप्रतिहतौदृष्टवातावुभौरणमूर्धनि ।।6.91.55।।

व्रीडितौजातरोषौ च लक्ष्मणेन्द्रजितौतदा ।


तदा then, तौ both, लक्ष्मणेन्द्रजितौ Lakshmana and Indrajith, उभौ both, रणमूर्धनि in the face of battle, प्रतिहतौ nought with the other, शरौ arrows, दृष्टवा seeing, व्रीडितौ abashed, जातरोषौ च got agitated

Then both Lakshmana and Indrajith in the face of the battle seeing their arrows in nought with each other were abashed and got agitated.
सुसंरर्ब्धस्तुसौमित्रिरस्त्रंवारुमाददे ।।6.91.56।।

रौद्रंमहेन्द्रजिद्युद्धेऽप्यसृजद्युद्धनिष्ठितः ।


सःसौमित्रिः that Saumithri, सुसंरब्धः enraged, वारुणम् Varuna's, अस्त्रम् weapon, आददे seizing, युद्धे battle, युद्धविष्ठितः skilled in warfare, महेन्द्रजिदपि on Mahendra's enemy, रौद्रम् Rudra, असृजत् presided over

Enraged Saumithri, seizing the weapon of Varuna, skilled in warfare loosened on Indrajith (Mahendra's enemy), which was presided over by Rudra.
तेनतद्विहतंशस्त्रंवारुणंपरमाद्भुतम् ।।6.91.57।।

ततःक्रुद्धोमहातेजाइन्द्रजित्समितिञ्जयः ।

आग्नेयंसन्दधेदीप्तं स लोकंसङ्क्षिपन्निव ।।6.91.58।।


तेन by then, परमाद्भुतम् very wonderful, तत् that, वारुणम् अस्त्रम् Varuna's weapon, विहतम् ineffective, ततः then, महातेजाः highly energetic, समितिञ्जयः victorious in wars, सः he, इन्द्रजित् Indrajith, लोकम् world, सङ्क्षिपन्निव as to destroy the whole world, दीप्तम् glowing, आग्नेयम् fire missile, सन्दधे used

Then the very wonderful weapon of Varuna was made ineffective by the highly energetic Indrajith's who used glowing fire missiles as if to destroy the whole world.
सौरेणास्त्रणतवदीरोलक्ष्मणःपर्यवारयत् ।

अस्त्रंनिवारितंदृष्टवारावणिःक्रोथमूर्छितः ।।6.91.59।।

आददेनिशितंबाणमासुरंशत्रुदारुणम् ।


वीरः hero, लक्ष्मणः Lakshmana, सौरेणआस्त्रण sun missile, तत् that, पर्यवारयत् repelled, अस्त्रम् weapon, निवारितम् obstructed, दृष्टवा seeing, रावणिः Indrajith, क्रोधमूर्छितः deluded with anger, शत्रुदारणम् capable of destroying enemy, निशितम् sharp, असुरंबाणम् asura arrow, आददे used

Then Lakshmana used a Sun missile and repelled (Indrajith's fire missile). Seeing his missile obstructed, Indrajith deluded with anger used a sharp Asura missile capable of destroying the enemy.
तस्माच्चापाद्विनिष्पेतुर्भास्वराःकूटमुद्गराः ।।6.91.60।।

शूलानि च मुशुण्ड्यश्चगदाःखङ्गा: परश्वथा: ।


तस्मात् by that, चापात् from the bow, भास्वराः Sun, कूटमुद्गराः Kutamudgaras,, शूलानि tridents च also, भुशुण्ड्यश्च Bhusundas, गदाः maces, खङ्गा: swords, परश्वथा: axes, विनिष्पेतुः issued forth

By the Sun missile, the Kutamudgaras, tridents, Bhusundas, swords and axes issued forth from Indrajith's bow.
तद्दृष्टवालक्ष्मणःसङ्ख्येघोरमस्त्रंसुदारुणम् ।।6.91.61।।

अवार्यंसर्वभूतानांसर्वशस्त्रविदारणम् ।

महेश्वरेणद्युतिमांस्तदस्त्रंप्रत्यवारयत् ।।6.91.62।।


द्युतिमान् effulgent, लक्ष्मणः Lakshmana, सङ्ख्ये deliberating, सुदारुणम् terrible, सर्वभूतानाम् for all beings, अवार्यम् to repel, सर्वशस्त्रविदारणम् capable of destroying all kinds of weapons, तत् that, घोरम् dreadful, अस्त्रम् missile, दृष्टवा seeing, माहेश्वरेण of Maheswara, तत् that, अस्त्रम् missile, प्रत्यवारयत् used

Effulgent Lakshmana, seeing the terrible Asura missile and deliberating that it is capable of destroying all human beings and difficult to repel, used a Maheswara missile to divert.
तयोःसमुतुलंयुद्धंसम्बभूवारोमहर्षणम् ।

गगनस्थानिभूतानिलक्ष्मणंपर्यवारयन् ।।6.91.63।।


तयोः both, अद्भुतम् wonderful, रोमहर्षणम् one's hair stand, युद्धम् war, सम्बभूवा happened, गगनस्थानि from the sky, भूतानि beings, लक्ष्मणम् at Lakshmana, पर्यवारयन् diverting

The war between both was wonderful and horripulating. Beings from the sky saw Lakshmana diverting the Asura missile.
भैरवाभिरुतेभीमेयुद्धेवानरक्षसाम् ।

भूतैर्बहुभिराकाशंविस्मितैरावृतंबभौ ।।6.91.64।।


वानररक्षसाम् Vanaras and Rakshasas, भैरवाभिरुते frightful, भीमे fierce, युद्धे battle, विस्मितैः astonished, बहुभिः many, भूतैःbeings, आवृतम् surrounded, आकाशम् in the sky, बभौ charming

As the frightful war between Vanaras and Rakshasas went on, many beings surrounded in the sky were astonished and looked charming.
ऋषयःपितरोदेवागन्धर्वगरुडोरगाः ।

शतक्रतुंपुरस्कृत्यररक्षुर्लक्ष्मणंरणे ।।6.91.65।।


ऋषयः Rsis, पितरः manes, देवाः Devatas, गन्धर्वगरुडोरगाः Gandharvas, Garuda, serpents शतक्रतुम् who had done hundred sacrifices, पुरस्कृत्य having performed, लक्ष्मणं Lakshmana, रण war, ररक्षुःprotected

The Rsis, Devatas, manes, Gandharvas, Garudas, serpents and Indra who had performed hundred sacrifices, protected Lakshmana in war.
अथान्यंमार्गणश्रेष्ठंसन्दधेराघवानुजः ।

हुताशनसमस्पर्शंरावणात्मजदारणम् ।।6.91.66।।


अथ and then, राघवानुजः Raghava's brother, हुताशनसमस्पर्शम् having the impact of the touch of fire, रावणात्मजदारणम् capable of tearing Indrajith, अन्यम् another, मार्गणश्रेष्णम् excellent arrow, सन्दधे fitted

And thereafter, Raghava's brother fitted another excellent arrow which had the impact of the touch of fire capable of tearing Indrajith.
सुपत्रमनुवृत्ताङ्गंसुपर्वाणंसुसंस्थितम् ।

सुवर्णविकृतंवीरश्शरीरान्तकरंशरम् ।।6.91.67।।

दुरावारंदुर्विषहंराक्षसानांभयावहम् ।

आशीविषविषप्रख्यंदेवसङ्घैःसमर्चितम् ।।6.91.68।।


वीरः heroic, सुपत्रम् lovely feathers, अनुवृत्ताङ्गम् consisted of beautiful parts, सुपर्वाणम् skilfully done, सुसंस्थितम् well jointed, सुवर्णविकृतम् decked with gold, शरीरान्तकरम् capable of killing the body, दुरावारम् difficult to keep off, दुर्विषहम् difficult to bear, राक्षसानाम् of Rakshasas, भयावहम् frightful, आशीविषविषप्रख्यम् resembling venomous serpents, देवसङ्घैःworshipped by gods, समर्चितम्, शरम् arrow

The arrow with lovely feathers, consisting of beautiful parts, skilfully done, well jointed, decked with gold, was not only difficult to put off but also difficult to bear, was capable of destroying enemies, frightful, resembling venomous serpents, and worshipped by gods.
येनशक्रोमहातेजादानवानजत्प्रभुः ।

पुरादेवासुरेयुद्धेवीर्यवान् हरिवाहनः ।।6.91.69।।


पुरा in the past, देवासुरेयुद्धे in the war between Devas and Asuras, महातेजाः energetic, प्रभुः Lord, वीर्यवान् valiant, हरिवाहनः green horses, शक्रः Indra, येन by him, दानवान् demons, अजयत् conquered

In the past at the war between Devas and Asuras, a mighty and energetic valiant Lord of Devas who had green horses conquered Danavas (with the same sword).
तदैन्द्रमस्त्रंसौमित्रिःसम्युगेष्वपराजितम् ।

शरश्रेष्ठंधनु: श्रेष्ठेविकर्षन्निदमिब्रवीत् ।।6.91.70।।

लक्ष्मीवान् लक्ष्मणोवाक्यमर्थसाधकमात्मनः ।


सौमित्रिःSumithra's son लक्ष्मीवान् prosperous, लक्ष्मणः Lakshmana, संयुगेषु in the combat, अपराजितम् that which has never been defeated, तत् that, ऐन्द्रम् Indra's, अस्त्रम् missile, शरश्रेष्ठम् foremost of arrows, धनुःश्रेष्ठे best of bows, विकर्षन् drawing, आत्मनः himself, अर्थसाधकम् set to achieve, इदंवाक्यम् this words, अब्रवीत् spoke

Son of Saumithri, that prosperous Lakshmana, drawing Indra's missile, the foremost one, and also the best of arrows, which has never been defeated, spoke these words set to achieve the purpose.
धर्मात्मासत्यसन्धश्चरामोदाशरथिर्यति ।।6.91.71।।

पौरुषेचाप्रतिद्वन्द्वःशरैनंजसिरावणिम् ।


दाशरथिःDasharatha's son, रामःRama, धर्मात्मा righteous, सत्यसन्धश्च truthful, पौरुषे unrivalled in might, अप्रतिद्वन्द्वः न यदि if true to his promise, शर arrow, एम् this, रावणिम् Indrajith, जहि will kill

"If Dasharatha's son, Sri Rama is righteous, truthful, of unrivalled valour and true to his promise this arrow will kill Indrajith."
इत्युक्त्वाबाणमाकर्णंविकृष्यतमजिह्मगम् ।।6.91.72।।

लक्ष्मणःसमरेवीरःससर्जेन्द्रजितंप्रति ।


वीरः hero, लक्ष्मणः Lakshmana, इति thus, उक्त्वा spoken, समरे in the battle, आजिह्मगम् bending the bow, बाणम् the arrow, आकर्णम् till the ear, विकृष्य stretching, इन्द्रजितंप्रति on Indrajith, ससर्ज released

Having spoken that way, Lakshmana, heroic in battle, bending the bow, stretching the arrow till the ear released on Indrajith.
ऐन्द्रास्त्रेणसमायुज्यलक्ष्मणःपरवीरहा ।।6.91.73।।

ततशिरःसशिरस्त्राणंश्रीमज्ज्वलितकुण्डलम् ।

प्रमथ्येन्द्रजितःकायात्पातयामासभूतले ।।6.91.74।।


परवीरहा destroyer of enemies, लक्ष्मणः Lakshmana, ऐन्द्रास्त्रण Indra's missile, समायुज्य aiming, सशिरस्त्राणम् belonging to the head, श्रीमत् prosperous, ज्वलितकुण्डलम् shining earrings, तत् that, शिरः head, प्रमथ्य severed, इन्द्रजितः Indrajith, कायात् from body, भूतलेon earth, पातयामास fell

Prosperous Lakshmana, the destroyer of enemies, aiming at Indrajith's head shining with earrings belonging to the head severed from the body, it fell on ground.
तद्राक्षसतनूजस्यभिन्नस्कन्धंशिरोमहत् ।

तपनीयनिभंभूमौददृशेरुधिरोक्षितम् ।।6.91.75।।


भिन्नस्कन्धम् trunk broken, रुधिरोक्षितम् bathed in blood, राक्षसतनूजस्य Indrajith's, महत् huge, तत् शिरः head, तपनीयनिभम् shining like gold, भूमौ on the earth, ददृशे seen

Trunk broken off, the huge head of Indrajith bathed in blood was seen on the earth shining like gold.
हतः स निपपाताथधरण्यांरावणात्मजः ।

कवचीसशिरस्त्राणोविद्धस्थशरासनः ।।6.91.76।।


अत and then, कवची shield, सशिरस्त्राण helmet of the head, विद्धिस्थश रासनः protection on broken, सःरावणात्मजः that Indrajith, हतःkilled, धरण्याम् on the earth, निपपात ह thrown

Thereafter Indrajith with his shield, and helmet of the head broken was thrown on earth killed.
चुक्रुशुस्तेततःसर्वेवानराःसविभीषणाः ।

हृष्यन्तोनिहतेतस्मिन् देवावृत्रवधेयथा ।।6.91.77।।


ततः then, सविभीषणाः that Vibheeshana, ते to, सर्वे all, वानराःVanara, तस्मिन् his, निहतेkilled, वृत्रवधे when Vrtasura killed, देवाःयथा like Devas, हृष्यन्तःrejoiced, चुक्रुशुः shouted

Then Vibheeshana and all the Vanaras rejoiced just as Devas, when Vrtasura was killed.
अथान्तरिक्षेभूतानामृषीणां च महात्मनाम् ।

जज्ञेऽथजयसन्नादोगन्धर्वाप्सरसामपि ।।6.91.78।।


अथ and then, अन्तरिक्षे sky, भूतानाम् created beings, महात्मनाम् great self, ऋषीणां च Rsis also, अथ and, गन्धर्वाप्सरसां च Gandharvas, Apsaras, जयसन्नादः shout of victory, जज्ञे aroused

Then shouts of victory aroused from the heavens from the created beings of heaven, Rsis also, Gandharvas and Apsaras.
पतितंतमभिज्ञायराक्षसीसामहाचमूः ।

वध्यमानादिशोभेजेहरिभिर्जितकाशिभिः ।।6.91.79।।


राक्षसी Rakshasa, महाचमूः great army, जितकाशिभिः desired to win, हरिभिः Vanaras, वध्यमाना started attacking, तम् them, पतितम् fallen, अभिज्ञाय unable to bear, दिशःdirections, भेजे screamed

Great army of Rakshasas even though desired to win seeing (Indrajith dead), Vanaras started attacking them. Unable to bear Rakshasas screamed.
वानरैर्वध्यमानास्तेशस्त्रानुत्सृज्यराक्षसाः ।

लङ्कामभिमुखास्सस्रुर्भ्रष्टसंज्ञाःप्रधाविताः ।।6.91.80।।


तेराक्षसाः those Rakshasas, वानरैः Vanaras, वध्यमानाः being killed, शस्त्राणि weapons, उत्सृज्य leaving, भ्रष्टसंज्ञाःsenses lost, प्रधाविताः assaulted, लङ्काम् to Lanka, अभिमुखाःtowards, सस्रुः went running

Those Rakshasas being killed by Vanaras, went running to Lanka leaving their weapons, with senses lost.
दुद्रुवुर्भहुधाभीताराक्षसाश्शतशोदिशः ।

त्यक्त्वाप्रहरणान्सर्वेपट्टसासिपरश्वधान् ।।6.91.81।।


भीताः feared, सर्वेराक्षसाः all Rakshasas, प्रहरणान् panic stricken, पट्टिशासिपरश्वधान् sharp edged spears, swords and axes, त्यक्त्वा leaving, बहुधाin groups, शतशःhundreds, दिशःdirections, दुद्रुवुःfled

All Rakshasas feared and panic stricken fled in hundreds, in groups in all directions leaving their sharpedged spears, swords, and axes.
केचिल्लङ्कांपरित्रस्ताःविष्टावानरार्दिताः ।

समुद्रेपतिताःकेचित्केचित्पर्वतमाश्रिताः ।।6.91.82।।


वानरार्दिताः pained by Vanaras, केचित् few, परित्रस्ताःfearing, लङ्काम् Lanka, प्रविष्टाः entered, केचित् some, समुद्रे ocean, पतिताः fallen, केचित् some, पर्वतम् mountain, आश्रिताःsought refuge

Pained by Vanaras, some fearful entered Lanka, few had fallen in the ocean and some sought refuge in the mountain.
हतमिन्द्रजितंदृष्टवाशयानं च रणक्षितौ ।

राक्षसानांसहस्रेषु न कश्चित्प्रत्यदृश्यत ।।6.91.83।।


हतम् killed, रणक्षितौ fallen on the ground, शयानम् lying, इन्द्रजितम् Indrajith, दृष्टवा seeing, राक्षसानाम् Rakshasas, सहस्रेषु thousands, कश्चित् indeed, न प्रत्यदृश्यत not present there

Indrajith was lying, having fallen on the ground, and not even one of the thousands of Rakshasas was present there to see.
यथास्तङ्गतआदित्येनावतिष्ठन्तिरश्मयः ।

तथातस्मिन्निपतितेराक्षसास्तेगतादिशः ।।6.91.84।।


आदित्ये sun, अस्तङ्गते when set in the sky, रश्मयः evening, यथा so, नावतिष्ठन्ति rays goes away, तथा in the same way, तस्मिन् him, निपतिते fallen, तेराक्षसाः those Rakshasas, दिशःdirections, गताःwent

Just as Sun rays go away as soon as the Sun sets in the evening, the Rakshasas also went in all directions seeing Indrajith fallen.
शान्तरश्मिरिवादित्योनिर्वाणइवपावकः ।

बभूव स महाबाहुर्व्यपास्तगतजीवितः ।।6.91.85।।


व्यपास्तगतजीवितःshorn of life, महाबाहुः broad shouldered, सःhe, शान्तरश्मि: whose rays have become cool, आदित्यःइव sun like, निर्वाणःafter death, पावकःइव fire like, बभूव remained

Shorn of life, the broad shouldered Indrajith remained on the ground like the Sun whose rays have become cool, after death.
प्रशान्तपीडाबहुलोविनष्टारिःप्रहर्षवान् ।

बभूवलोकःपतितेराक्षसेन्द्रसुतोतदा ।।6.91.86।।

Then many were at peace and rejoiced in the world, being relieved, when Ravana's son dropped dead.

आकाशेचापिदेवानांशुश्रुवेदुन्दुभिस्वनः ।

नृत्यद्भिरप्सरोभिश्चगन्धर्वैश्चमहात्मभिः ।।6.91.88।।


आकाशे in the heaven, देवानाम् Devas, दुन्दुभिस्वनः sounds of drums, नृत्यद्भिः dance also, अप्सरोभिः of Apsaras, महात्मभिः of great souls, गन्धर्वैश्च Gandharvas, शुश्रुवे was heard

In heaven also, sounds of drums of Gandharvas, great souls and dance of Apsaras were heard.
ववर्षुःपुष्पवर्षाणितदद्भुतमिवाभवत् ।

प्रशशंसुर्हतेतस्मिन्राक्षसेक्रूरकर्मणि ।।6.91.89।।


क्रूरकर्मणि cruel minded, तस्मिन् राक्षसे those Rakshasas, हते killed, पुष्पवर्षाणि rain of flowers, ववर्षुः showered, प्रशशंसुः praising, तत् that, अद्भुतमिव wonderful, अभवत्

With cruel minded Rakshasa killed, celebrities showered rain of flowers praising the wonderful deed.
शुद्धाआपोनभश्चैवजहृषुर्देवदानवाः ।

आजग्मुःपतितेतस्मिन्सर्वलोकभयावहे ।।6.91.90।।


सर्वलोकभयावहे terror for all worlds, तस्मिन् his, पतिते fall, आपः water, नभश्चैव from the sky, शुद्धाः pure, देवदानवाःDevas and Danavas, जह्रषुः rejoiced, आजग्मुः came there

As the terror of all worlds had fallen and the water from the sky became pure, Devas and Danavas rejoiced and came there.
ऊचुश्चसहितास्तुष्टादेवगन्धर्वदानवाः ।

विज्वराश्शान्तकलुषाब्राह्मणाविचरन्त्विति ।।6.91.91।।


देवगन्धर्वदानवाः Devas, Gandharvas and Danavas, तुष्टाः arrived there सहिताः also ब्राह्मणा brahmanas, शान्तकलुषाः without any anxiety, विज्वराः without fear, विचरन्तु move about, इति thus, ऊचुश्च said

Devas, Danavas and Ghandharvas arrived there and said, "Let the Brahmins be without anxiety and move about without fear."
ततोऽभ्यनन्दन्सम्हृष्टास्समरेहरियूथपाः ।

तमप्रतिबलंदृष्टवाहतंनैरृतपुङ्गवम् ।।6.91.92।।


ततः then, समरे in battle, हतम् killed, अप्रतिबलम् extraordinary prowess, तम् him, नैरृतपुङ्गवम् best of Rakshasas, दृष्टवा seeing, हरियूथपाः Vanara army, सम्हृष्टाः happy, अभ्यनन्दन् greeted

When, the best of Rakshasa, a leader of extraordinary prowess was killed, the Vanara army seeing Lakshmana felt happy and greeted him.
विभीषणोहनूमांश्चजाम्बवांश्चर्क्षयूथपः ।

विजयेनाभिनन्दन्तसुष्टुवुश्चापिलक्ष्मणम् ।।6.91.93।।


विभीषणः Vibheeshana, हनूमांश्च and Hanuman, अर्क्षयूथपः army of Bears, जाम्बवान् च Jambavan also, लक्ष्मणम् Lakshmana, विजयेन victory, अभिनन्दन्तः greeted, तुष्टुवुः praised अपि also

Vibheeshana and Hanuman, leader of Bears Jambavan praised Lakshmana and greeted him for his victory.
क्ष्वेळन्तश्चप्लवन्तश्चगर्जन्तश्चप्लवङ्गमाः ।

लब्दलक्षारघुसुतंपरिवार्योपतस्थिरे ।।6.91.94।।


लब्धलक्षाः having accomplished their goal, प्लवङ्गमाः monkeys, क्ष्वेळन्तश्च playing, प्लवन्तश्च monkeys also गर्जन्तश्च roaring, रघुसुतम् Lakshmana, परवार्य surrounded, उपतस्थिरे stood

Having accomplished their goal, monkeys roaring, playing, surrounded Lakshmana, and stood.
लाङ्गूलानिप्रविध्यन्तस्स्फोटयन्तश्चवानराः ।

लक्ष्मणोजयतीत्येवंवाक्यंविश्रावयंस्तदा ।।6.91.95।।


तदा then, वानराः Vanara, लाङ्गूलानि tails, प्रविध्यन्तः wagging, स्फोटयन्तः च and lashing, लक्ष्मणःजयति Lakshman is winning, इत्येवम् in this way, वाक्यम् words, विश्रावयन् slogan announced

Then Vanaras wagging their tails and lashing them announced slogans saying," Lakshmana is winning."
अन्योन्यं च समालशिष्यहरयोहृष्टमानसाः ।

चक्रुरुच्चावगुणाराघवाश्रयसजा: कथा: ।।6.91.96।।


हरयः monkeys, हृष्टमानसाः very happy, अन्योन्यम् one another, समालशिष्य embraced, उच्छावचगुणाःsinging in praise, राघवाश्रयसजा: Raghava has won, कथा: related stories, चक्रुः uttered

तदसुकरमथाभिवीक्ष्यहृष्टाःप्रियसुहृदोयुधिलक्ष्मणस्यकर्म ।

परममुपलभन्मनःप्रहर्षंविनिहतमिन्द्ररिपुंनिशम्यदेवाः ।।6.91.97।।


देवाः Devas, इन्द्ररिपुम् Indra's enemy, विनिहतम् killed, निशम्य, अथ and then, प्रियसुहृदः loving friend, लक्ष्मणस्य Lakshmana's, तत् that, असुकरम् that which can't be done by others, कर्म deed, युधि in battle, अभिवीक्ष्य witnessing, हृष्टाः happy, परमम् very, मनःप्रहर्षम् mind filled with joy, उपलभन् experienced

Knowing that Indra's enemy has been killed by Lakshmana, the Devatas experienced joy that their loving friend has done a deed which cannot be done by others. Witnessing the battle, they felt very happy, their minds filled with joy.
