Summary

Trisanku told Visvamitra that he was even prepared to enter heaven, with his disfigured body but Visvamithra disagreed "Any one taking refuge in me shall ever be protected and never let down. Now that you have reached me, consider yourself already in heaven", he said with great pride. Summoning his disciples, he told them to invite all the sages, their disciples priests and scholars of renown to the proposed sacrifice. They were also to report of any disregard or dissent about the proposed yagna anywhere. The returning emissaries informed Visvamitra that all those commanded were on their way, except for Mahodaya. The hundred sons of Vasishta, who had demanded in anger, "How can the gods and seers partake of food touched by a chandala, in a sacrifice conducted by a warrior, in the name of a chandala? And how can the Rajarshi assure salvation for the brahmins, under his patronage, having eaten the food of a pariah? How can Trisanku ever reach heaven with Visvamitra's help"?

Red eyed with anger Visvamitra flew into a fury his words boded ill as be bowed. "Engaged as I am in relentless penance, I am blameless. May they who abuse me, who am beyond abuse, perish! Seven hundred birthswill they feed on corpses and then born as mushtikas feeding on the flesh of dogs. Hideous and deformed they shall wander these worlds ".May the sons of Vasishta born of the race of mushtikas, living on the flesh of the dead roam this earth for seven hundred years! And as for Mahodaya, his insolence towards me is unwarranted.May he be born a Nishada, condemned in all the three worlds .May he inhabit this earth for many years, snuffing out the lives of others!"Venting his denunciations Visvamitra fell silent.
