Six principles to be followed to succeed 3.72.7-27
Kabandha speaks of the six political principles or yuktis or gunas. They are Sandhi (rapproachment), Vigraha (fight), Yana (moving away), Asana (staying firm), Dvaidhibhava (splitting) and Samasraya (surrender).
Vimarsah, (discussion) is according to the principles of Nyaya. When the matter is considered on the principles of Nyaya, it is decided that two parties in distress make an alignment (ie, they become allies).
I cannot foresee the success of your efforts to regain Sita unless you make friends with such a person. Or by shadyukrayah, the six means of right knowledge, namely – pratyaksa (perception), anumana (inference), upamana (analogy), sabda (word of a reliable person or scripture), arthapatti (implication) and abhava (absence). This is so because Parthasarathi Misra has explained the word yukti as means of correct knowledge, in his work called Sastra Dipika. Hence the meaning of the sloka is as follows: O Rama, there are six means of knowledge in the world. By these six means all things are decided. A person joins one who has no means of knowledge in the same condition. Then he shows the first means called Pratyaksa. The second means called Anumana is shown by Yatkrte vyasanam etc. Make friends with him in the presence of the burning fire. Make friendship with Sugriva having the holy fire as the witness. Sugriva will be able to do what you desire, ie, help you in finding Sita. Sugriva is wandering on the banks of the lake Pampa. He has cultivated enmity with Vali. Place the weapons in the vicinity of the holy fire and make Sugriva your friend taking the oath of truth. Sugriva will know in which residence of Ravana Sita is weeping for you. From this it is understood that Ravana has palaces in all directions and Sugriva will be able to find in which of those palaces Sita is pining. For this purpose the word Diso vicetum has been used by the poet.
